Positive: The house was really nice with traditional mats on the bedroom floors and a well equipped and pleasant kitchen. The location was good, not far from the station. There were things I didn't like which were mitigated by the fact that I shared my room with a really lovely lady.

Negative: The shower didn't seem to work properly, kept cutting out and changing temperature. Also I can only imagine they have had badly behaved guests in the past because there were signs on everything with rules and prohibitions which were also explained in detail by the staff.... not a very welcoming atmosphere.

Positive: The staff was super friendly and courteous, the communication easy and the kitchen is equipped with the essentials (also free coffee and green tea). The room has a safe and an adjustable air coditioning (hot/cold). The process for check-in and check-out is quick & easy. There is a nice bath house (Ranpu-Yu) nearby.

Negative: The building is a bit old and therefore clairaudient, but it's no problem with earplugs :)

Summary: It's a nice place to stay.

Positive: Staffs are friendly and helpful, and introduced many Shimane local craft beers. The accommodation is a renovated old ryokan, seems with most of the original facilities preserved, very interesting. I had a great time here!

Positive: It was my 2nd time here and I was again very happy with this accomodation. The rooms are traditional Japanese style and equipped with air-conditioning, safety locker and extra mattresses if you find yours too thin. The communal kitchen is well equipped as well and can become a great spot for conversation and international exchange even. There is a communal bathroom and one separate communal toilet. The accomodation is overall very clean. There are pamphlets of sights to see and things to do around Izumo and other nearby towns so don't be afraid to gain some inspiration from there. The proprietor is always full of smiles and very kind. Check in and check out is very smooth. He is also happy to tell you about things to do in town. If you don't mind sharing a room and a bathroom with others I really recommend staying at Guesthouse itoan!

Positive: Beautiful Japanese-style house and rooms with futon. Nice staff. All in all a good stay.

Negative: The walls are a bit thin so you might hear the neighbors or hear them walking around, particularly if you are on the ground floor and someone is on top of you.
