Positive: The initial impression was positive. The location was excellent for accessing walks and the wider area.

Negative: If we had been a party of six the accommodation would not have met our needs. The downstairs toilet had no lighting. We only used the en-suite. The kitchen lightening was poor. Missing bulbs. The kitchen area would not have been suitable for cooking for six. We managed as we were just two. The door from hall to living area jammed on two occasions and locked us in and out! The handle would not turn. We needed to use a knife to open the door. The open fire had not been used for some time and therefore when we lit the fire the smoke filled the room due to the cold chimney. This resolved itself as the chimney heated up. This took a couple of days. The aga doesn’t provide enough facilities for cooking. We cook meals from fresh so the aga didn’t fully meet our needs. We did not alert the owners to these issues as we found Keith’s manner off putting on our arrival and decided to chalk up our issues to experience. We had planned to return one day with our family but unfortunately this accommodation did not inspire confidence.

Positive: Location was excellent no noise, no cars, no light pollution, getting to mountain hikes easy. Overall cosy feel to house topped off by log fire.

Summary: Perfect setting in the highlands to venture out whether that’s mountain walking or river walk the stay was superb
