Positive: It’s a very nice family-owned motel on the way to Death Valley. The owner is super nice, friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. There is a nice French restaurant next block, and a small coffee shop called ‘Cowboy coffee’ couple blocks away (must go).

Negative: Everything was good.

Positive: PJ and his wife are very friendly and helpful. I always love and appreciate spending time w/ them and having general chit chat. They are always genuinely personable and always provide first rate service and facilities. It's not uncommon to get some tea and snacks in the morning too.

Negative: nothing

Summary: Super friendly staff, great facilities for a good price and smack dab in the middle of town.

Positive: We reserved a family room which had a queen and 2 twin beds. Although the furnishings are dated, the place is very clean and very tidy. We were warmly welcomed. I mentioned that I was picking up some PCT through hikers and they provided special towels for their clean up (non-white towels :)) They also provided some cookies and fruit for the hikers. Very nice people at this place.

Negative: Wifi was spotty in our room but it did work when we needed it.

Summary: Nice and clean place to stay for a night or two.

Positive: Room was very well appointed and decorated, both facilities and appearance, super-clean and well-maintained, reminding me of a high-end hotel. Although room quite small, it served its purpose and had everything one could need, including refrigerator, microwave, full set of toiletries, etc. For the price a great value. And staff also really helpful and accommodating. Also less than a block to the ESTA bus stop for those traveling by bus.

Negative: Independence itself has but one sandwich shop, two gas-station markets and two taco trucks but not much else. Great for hikers passing through for a day or two but not a place you'd stay for too many nights.

Summary: Excellent room at great value with accommodating staff

Positive: It's a small older property, but super clean and tidy and the owners are just amazing! We got a welcome basket of fruit and snacks on arrival, and there were a lot of little extras in the room (mini toothpaste, toothbrush, etc.). A/C worked great, our room was a good size, and the beds were comfortable. Super close to Kearsarge Pass TH which is what we needed. We'll definitely stay again!
