Positive: Nice location outside the city with a nice garden. We ordered dinner and the food was amazing !

Negative: Lots of mosquitoes. The room was nice but not very clean. The breakfast option with egg was a bit poor. Only 1 fried egg with two pieces of toast (no butter, no jam). Better go for the Nasi Goreng.

Positive: It was like staying with friends, the hosts were welcoming and friendly and full of useful advice. Jan is a Dutchman married to a Sulawesi lady so communication was easy. I rented a scooter from them and Jan advised me on the excellent woodland routes to hot springs and volcanic lakes. He also drove me to a Telkomsel shop to buy an eSIM after the one I purchased from Trip.com failed to work. If was outstanding supportive and kind, the best hosting I’ve experienced in my 6 months travelling SE Asia.

Positive: Everything :) Ian organised our airport pickup and set us up nicely at the Cottage. During our stay, we organised tours with Ian around Mount Lokon, Lake Linow, and all the other attractions around Tomohon, before driving us back to Manado after our stay.

Negative: NA

Summary: We liked everything we experienced at Ian's place. Accomodation, tours, breakfast & the superb view!

Positive: Jan was exceptionally friendly, helpful, and gave plenty of tips. The area is lovely - away from all the noise of Tomohon - it's very peaceful and the lush garden makes for a relaxed environment. The room is very clean. With a motorbike it's very close to the city itself and easy to get around.

Negative: As it's a tinned roof, rain during the rainy season can actually be incredibly loud;.plus, being so close to nature there sometimes are quite a few sounds at night - so would recommend bringing earplugs to those who are sensitive to noise as I am.

Summary: Lovely accommodation - I extended my stay!

Positive: Everyone and everything was great. There are two cottages located in a gorgeous garden setting. Lovely veranda to sit and enjoy the peaceful surroundings and dramatic extinct volcano. The entire area is abundant in vegetation, both crops and forests. Everything seems to grow, probably because of the rich volcanic soil. Breakfast was included in the price but lunches and dinners were generous, inexpensive and carefully prepared by Marlyne, the wife of the host, Jan. We took an all day tour of the surrounding countryside, culminating in a swim in a small lake and sulfuric hot spa. Don’t forget to take in the amazing market in town. While some of it may look familiar to fellow travellers, other parts are unique to the region. Finally, if you’re lucky enough to be in town in early August, check to see if the flower festival and parade are on.

Positive: Really nice cottage in a lovely setting. The garden is really beautiful and the cottages are spacious, clean and with a good bathroom. The owners are very nice and make their own local products. They put a lot of care into breakfast and went out of their way to make traditional Dutch pancakes for our daughter. They also organize local tours. The location is outside the busy part of Tomohon but close enough to take a taxi/GRAB for dinner.
