Summary: Beautiful resort! It’s away from crowds and traffic, situated in the countryside. Restaurant is very upscale. Sitting on the restaurant patio and looking at the rolling hills is an excellent way to spend an evening. Breakfast was delicious, varied, and plentiful. The resort is located at the end of a one lane road, so one must stay alert when driving in and out!

Summary: There are so many well-deserved positive things to say about Il Verreno that this is not a short review. The setting is peaceful and magical, high above the Ambra Valley with views across orchards, olive groves and vineyards to wooded hills - best seen from the swimming pool! The historic buildings have been restored with great care and furnished with striking taste. The extensive public seating areas and library show the comfort of guests is more important than profit. The rooms are spacious and well-equipped. The bed was unimaginably comfortable. There was a decent sized refrigerator too. The choice and quality of food at breakfast was better than I can remember anywhere. The food in the restaurant is full of imaginative surprises and has a deserved high reputation. The wine list offers many great options for all lovers of Tuscan wines. The staff are unfailingly professional, polite, efficient and friendly. We liked them! Ambra village is a short distance away. Small, charming and the home of the Notti Ambra on summer Tuesday evenings - not to be missed. Bucine train station is not far with trains to Arezzo and Florence. Il Verreno is not the cheapest nor the most expensive place to stay in Tuscany. We felt it was fairly priced for the high standards it offers. The sincerest compliment we can give is that we intend to come back for a longer stay.

Summary: What a phenomenal place, fully worth the praise it has received. We stayed in the Uccelli Suite, and it was without a doubt one of the best hotel rooms I’ve stayed in. Beautifully decorated, respecting the vibe of the old house, the rooms were spacious, cozy and elegant at the same time. High ceilings and nice details to let your eyes rest at. It was a delight to sit by the window enjoying an afternoon coffee and look at the Tuscan green hills. Bed very comfortable, crisp linens, and good supporting pillows. The estate is a stylish setting inside out. Staff was wonderful all around, really welcoming. Breakfast had a broad variety of options, with eggs and coffees served to the table. Cakes, sweet pieces, croissants etc and fruit in a separate table, a juice station, and separate tables for yoghurts and salty breakfast items. A very good continental breakfast. True luxury for me is always measured in fruits, and here that was fulfilled: kiwis and apricots cut in small pieces to have as a fruit salad or with yoghurt etc. The same goes for the fruit salad I ordered by the pool: good fresh pieces of kiwi, pineapple, nectarine and apricot. Loved it. The restaurant a is a fine dining experience, with tasting menus and a la carte options. As a fine dining restaurant it was on the higher end of the price spectrum but not outrageous by any means. You get what you pay for. Top quality. Pool area was calm, there is a bar menu service available from the pool bar throughout the day.

Summary: We could not be happier with our stay at Il Verreno. We arrived late on our first night and they were able to hold our table in the restaurant for dinner. My husband had Coeliac disease and not once did we have to tell the staff, they had a note in file and every single one of them remembered for the whole trip. They made changes to the menu for him, ensuring he had gluten free bread and pasta etc. the service was excellent throughout the hotel, the hotel was clean and the rooms are beautiful. I would recommend this to anyone looking to stay in the Tuscan area.
