Summary: We komen aanrijden..en alle parkeerplaatsen zijn vol. Ik kijk om me heen waar ik dan me auto moet zetten, want midden op de weg parkeren en zo de doorgang voor iedereen blokkeren lijkt e iet netjes. Overal is wel grasveld. Lege grote kartonnen dozen die kennelijk ooit om een tv heen zaten liggen op het gazon, emmers hier en daar, wat metalen dingen liggen verspreid. Bij gebrek aan plaats zet ik dus maar me auto zo ver mogelijk aan de zijkant en met 2 banden op dat gazon. Na wat zoeken komt er uit het pand een vrouw verhit aangelopen en begint zonder aarzelen in het Frans tegen me te tafelen. Ik had al ergens een recensie gelezen er ergens een 'kasteel Karen' was....en ik had haar geloof ik gevonden. Ik tracht duidelijk te maken dat wij de nieuwe gasten zijn en geen idee hebben waar we ons moesten melden, en wel wat Frans machtige zijn, maar geen waterval. Waarna ik vervolgens dan maar in het Engels bij kans wordt toe geschreeuwd waar ik het gore lef vandaan haalde haar gras te ontheiligen. Vond zelf dat de waarde van het gazon met de dagwaarde van onze auto was vermeerderd op moment dat we het aanraakten, maar zij dacht daar kennelijk anders over. Ik gaf aan dat ik me nergens van bewust was zo tussen het karton en de emmers, maar als het haar zo enorm ontstemde ik uiteraard wel midden op de weg wilde gaan staan anders. Ze zou haar man wel even gaan halen! Dit waren de ervaringen van onze eerst 5 minuten. Meneer zelf was tegenovergestelde van zijn EGA gelukkig en tik beeld van hoffelijkheid. Verder...geen wifi zoals wel was beloofd. Graag toch even meteen de borg aftikken contant. Of we voortaan alleen op het grind ons wilden begeven. Gevraagd of de kinderen dan wel op het gras mochten spelen, dat was dan wel toegestaan. De schommel was anders onbereikbaar. Algehele indruk van het 'landgoed' was dat wij gelukkig aan de kant zaten die wel redelijk netjes was. Andere deel zou waarschijnlijk lang geleden al onbewoonbaar verklaard zijn. Behalve het ontbreken van ramen, ingezakte daken, verrot houtwerk, ontbrekende dakgoten, half vergaan ijzerwerk en een typisch Franse weg deed het op een ruime afstand aan als een groot landgoed, ja dat wel betere tijden had gekend ja..dat wel. Ongeveer 400 haar geleden dan. Toen het ongeveer was gebouwd. So far doen we deze locatie maar 1 keer..en nooit meer. Een welkom waar ze op menig hotelschool een klassieker van kunnen maken van hoe je werkelijk alles fout kan doen dat er bestaat, als je een nieuwe gast een goede indruk wilt geven.

Summary: Een prachtig huis, veel ruimte. Wel loopt er een vrij drukke D weg achter de tuin langs. De beloofde Jeu de boulebaan bleek er niet te zijn. Speeltoestel bleek een kleuterglijbaantje te zijn. De foto's zijn verouderd. De aanblik van de tuin is volkomen veranderd.

Summary: We waren al ruim op tijd in de streek, het verkeer verliep vlot, eerst nog wat boodschappen gedaan, vervolgens aangekomen op de abdij, eerst even zoeken (een extra bordje van belle villa of iets dergelijks is wenselijk) en vervolgens de abdij opgedraaid. De grote poort stond wagenwijd open en inderdaad je betreedt de rust van een abdij. De eigenaar kwam na enig zoeken aangelopen en liet ons het mooi verbouwde huis zien. Ruim en de meeste gemakken zijn aanwezig. Uiteraard zouden we zelf dingen graag anders zien, maar smaken verschillen. Op zich was het netjes, echter in de details bleek dat sommige hoekjes over het hoofd waren gezien, omdat er nog sommige dingen van de vorige bezoekers teruggevonden werden. De bedden zijn voor Nederlandse mensen wat aan de kleine kant,..... We hebben ons er een week prima thuis gevoeld mede door de pauwen en kippen die regelmatig ons kwamen bezoeken tot onder het kamerraam. De omgeving heeft voldoende te bieden maar vraagt wel dat je er met de auto tot een uurtje voor moet rijden. De streek is zeker nog niet toeristisch, bewegwijzering kan beter en het vvvv kantoor, mag wat beter nadenken over wat we als toerist zoeken, accommodatie wordt voldoende aangeboden, maar de mensen die er al zijn willen ook wat doen. Alleen al een goede wegenkaart met daarop de thing's to do zou een uitkomst bieden. Prachtige stranden met life guards,..... En lang niet zo druk als in Nederland.

Summary: Het adres was met onze gps moeilijk te vinden, maar enkele vriendelijke dorpsbewoners hebben ons goed geholpen. De accommodatie was zeer goed: een oud gebouw opgeknapt zonder het authentieke karakter aan te tasten. Vriendelijke dochter des huizes en vriendelijke huiseigenaar-actieve boer. Indrukwekkend gebouw met majestueuze inrijpoort omgeven door graanvelden, aardappelvelden en maïsvelden. Een leuke vakantie maak je zelf. De accommodatie en omgeving zijn belangrijk, maar ondergeschikt aan je ingesteldheid om er zelf iets van te maken.
