Positive: Good location on the riverside to explore Givet. Secure parking at rear of hotel was great as we had a classic car.

Negative: The towel episode- no towels in the room on arrival. Asked if we could have some as we wanted to shower. Told no towels in hotel! Load of excuses such as it had rained for 2 days and it’s difficult running a hotel! We insisted saying it was a basic requirement for a hotel. After 3 hours still no towels we asked again and got offered some damp towels! We insisted again on fresh clean towels. Finally towels were provided that were clean and dry but full of holes and really worn out. Room was not that clean, edges of the floor dirty.

Summary: Good location, secure parking. But we had bad experience over towels and attitude of the staff.

Positive: Beautiful view, the staff was amazing and very helpful. I needed to get to Freyr for a climbing exam in the morning and because it was Sunday and there were no buses the owner woke up on time and drove me himself. The room was cute and in a perfect spot in town.

Negative: The Moules frites was advertised as starting from €14.50 and the check came for 24.50, which confused me a little. The Moules had been boiled before cleaning meaning the outside was covered in barnacles and seaweed which reflected on the taste... The bed was very used and had a massive low part in the middle. Did not sleep well.

Negative: The room was very tired looking. The furniture was a poor impersonation of shabby chic. The shabby bit was spot on, the chic was illusive.
