Positive: A small but a basic breakfast was provided every morning in the room: a banana, two croissants, a cheese, and a drinkable yogurt A good location: close to odawara train station, odawara castle, and the beach

Negative: On the first night, we found a cockroach on the elevator and another one in our bedroom.

Positive: Booked at short notice and there was only a smoking room available. But the smell wasn't noticable in the room at all. An older style hotel but the bathroom has been updated and the room was very well cleaned and aired before checkin. Excellent value and very friendly staff.

Summary: Retro vibes and a great night’s sleep.

Positive: The room was big, a bit old-fashioned, but everything worked perfectly. Bathroom with a nice tub, toiletries, etc. An outstanding value-for-money!

Negative: It might not be the best choice for your Hakone trip, but it is not bad either. Also, Odawara is much more fun than Hakone Yamoto, more bar, restaurants, and nightlife.

Positive: Older hotel with a really nice early Showa vibe (I'll remember the room key for years.) Good room, comfy bed, friendly cool staff. I'll likely return when next in Odawara.

Positive: The hotel really was posh: large room, enormous bathroom, balcony, slightly old-fashioned but good quality furniture. The extended continental breakfast was excellent. There was eco-friendly crockery and cutlery. There were two comfortable chairs by the coffee table, as well as one at the desk. Very close to the JR station. If you get lost in the narrow alleyways, look up and you'll see the name of the hotel. Even though my grandson and I had two separate beds, we were still given the excellent children's rate.

Negative: The otherwise excellent breakfast (left in the room) was spoiled by instant coffee and creamer. If you could just put a coffee machine next to the microwave or in the lobby, everything would be perfect.
