Positive: Hotel is right in the centre of El Escorial which is set in the mountains in beautiful countryside just outside Madrid. the town is a bit of a tourist trap but is a nice place with Philip II's palace and a lot of very pretty countryside around. The owner was very friendly and helpful and had a list of the sights to see and a guide to the best restaurants. His suggested walk up to a viewpoint was quite long and hard but well worth it. You could see the town, the palace and all the way back to Madrid, 25 miles away.

Negative: Nothing really.

Summary: A nice stay in a very nice place.

Positive: The host was amazing and showed such interest in our visit. He spoke perfect English and gave brilliant guidance on everything about the location. It was extremely easy to access madrid by bus. San lorenzo is lovely and well worth a visit.

Negative: The bed was so hard, spent most of night in a chair. Lack of privacy with velux windows as really overlooked. It was also extremely dark if blinds weren't open.
