Positive: Rooms along a walled courtyard parking zone of the main road of town. Other facilities up front but not in use when I was there, no food available. Short walk to the church and restaurant area. The owner connected me to a guide/taxi driver for the Butterfly Preserve trip.

Negative: Rooms have only alcohol and/or wood fireplaces for heat which were not operating when I was there. Heavy blankets helped.

Summary: Nice, basic motel-like facility near center of town. Friendly owners help arrange transport/guide.

Positive: Property is very quiet at night. Staff available and quick to help. Lots of blankets

Negative: Room needed some repairs , it is an older motel. Wi-Fi rarely works

Positive: Splendid balcony with rocking chair and coffee table to contemplate the silence of the neighborhood which is broken only cows moooooing going home in the late afternoon, hummingbirds on the nearby flowers, etc. The manager Juan is a cheerful and helpful chap. He can arrange taxi and English-speaking guide for the mariposas trip.

Negative: The nearby Willy Cocina was somehow not operating so one has to walk 900m upslope to the town centre. I didn't get to meet La Margarita though.

Summary: So glad I made the trip and booked the Margarita.

Positive: Breakfast was fine, a large variety to choose from. We liked the location.

Negative: We booked what we thought was a room with two beds. Our mistake. But the room we were given was tiny. The double bed took up most of the floor space. There was almost no surface area to put things and very little space for luggage. We were under the impression this hotel had a restaurant (pictures on website, etc.). But food is prepared only when there is a tour and when the tour wants a meal. An example - I asked the chef if there was to be dinner that evening. He said yes, 7p.m. So we planned on that, not staying in town where we were. There was no dinner. The website needs to add that meals are prepared for tours, not individuals.

Summary: We were happy to be in Angangueo so we adapted to the accommodations. The staff was great.
