Summary: I had a very pleasant stay at Hotel Funicolare. Beautiful view from the hotel and a lovely overall experience. Special mention and thank you to Luana working at reception, she is very professional, kind and was attentive throughout the stay. Her customer service was excellent and she genuinely made guests feel welcome and looked after. The road is not easy if you’re coming from the Swiss side. It’s much easier to come through the Italian side.

Summary: I recently stayed at this hotel overlooking Lake Lugano, and I have to say—the view is absolutely breathtaking. Waking up each morning to the shimmering lake and surrounding mountains was truly unforgettable. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, always ready to help with a smile. The breakfast was also quite good, with a nice variety of options to start the day right. One thing to keep in mind: the hotel is located at the top of a mountain, which makes for the amazing views, but also means you’ll need to navigate a steep drive to get there. Avoid taking Valmara Road if possible—it's very steep, narrow, and quite challenging to drive, especially if you're not used to mountain roads. Overall, a fantastic stay with scenery and service that make the climb worth it—just plan your route carefully!
