Summary: Ive stayed at the hotel du vin before and loved it, but this time was a different story, perhaps because I had a dog with me? Receptionist unfriendly and even ignored me when I asked if the upgrade lottery had any dog friendly rooms. The room itself had dust on every surface including thick grey dust on the ornaments very high up, gunk on the soap dispenser and just generally the bathroom didn't feel clean, hairs in the bath etc. I smiled and said hello to staff who met my eye but didn't even smile back. No one came to collect my room service hanger that I put out at 9pm (I couldn't go to breakfast in the dining room because of the dog) and when I went to ask about my options on discovering the hanger I was just met with a shrug, no apology, and was told I could purchase breakfast "if I wanted". Really disappointing. I love that the hotel du vin welcomes dogs for a fee, but I was also a bit surprised that the dog bed provided was absolutely covered in dog hair from previous pooches that went all over the floor when it was chucked down as well.

Summary: Stayed on the 4th floor in one of the rooms with the tub on the second floor. Really enjoyed our time. Luckily, on a hot day, our room had a Dyson A/C, so helpful for us. Everyone we talked to, from the front desk, to the bartenders, to the wait staff in the restaurant, were friendly and easy to talk to. Our second stay at Hotel du Vin, and we'll definitely be coming back for more stays.
