Positive: The bed was eight feet wide, and comfortable. The only man working at breakfast was helpful when the coffee machine would not work. The maid was helpful when the air conditioning would not work. The view from our balcony was lovely.

Negative: The first confusion was where to park. There appeared to be two possible Areas, one near the front of the hotel, and one behind. We walked into reception and there were three staff, two of whom totally ignored us. The young female asked us if we needed help. I explained we had a room booked. She was extremely surly and abrupt, and not friendly. This was an unpleasant welcome, considering the other hotels in Portugal so far on our road trip, have been extremely friendly and helpful. The bed was fantastic, eight feet wide, and the room had a balcony. However, the air conditioning did not work, and we asked a maid to help us, who had to do something in the fuse box. The pool area looked crowded, with noisy children, so we left the hotel, and bathed in the reservoir! Breakfast was adequate, but the coffee machine did not work. There was one man doing everything in the breakfast room, who was fantastic, and after having the same problem with the coffee machine, made me one from behind the bar. I would not recommend this hotel if you want peace and quiet!

Positive: I went out of season and it was really cheap so super value. I would absolutely return because there is much to love about this hotel, but also a couple of areas where it is showing some age. The location is simply stunning and the views to die for. The staff all spoke some English and could not have been more friendly and helpful. The rooms are spacious and clean, but, my bathroom really needs replacing. The tiles are discoloured with age and whilst it had been well cleaned it still looks poor. I had the cheapest room and others may be better. The outside pool looks fabulous and the Spa was very welcome. Unfortunately the Spa was not staffed and I was unable to get a massage. The food in the restaurant was excellent and both food and drinks were good value. I would definitely return.

Negative: Just the tiles in my bathroom

Positive: The view and exterior pool and area. The price was almost not affected by inflation (because value is worse now)

Negative: Needs renovation and maintenance. Understaffed. Sadly today it's a shadow of what it was some years ago. it's a pity they haven't maintained the place properly.
