Positive: I booked last minute and was able to get checked in at 10pm after calling the number listed. Used Google translate to communicate, they don't speak English. Breakfast is simple (chose vegan food), doesn't quite start at 7 and imo best to go after 8 am giving them time to setup. My room was on the same floor as the restaurant, there was noise due to the area and general crowd but nothing jarring. There are mosquitos as the common area has open air to the outside but it's not a lot. I do recommend this place due to cleanliness, location and staff.

Negative: Wifi was a bit spotty in my room and had to find the best place/angle to get it beyond 2 bars

Positive: Very comfortable stay at Mama Mambo. Clean, good location to Colonial Zona and very creative, colourful interiors. The breakfast was delicious too and the stay felt like an authentic experience, almost like a homestay.

Negative: Two very important notes however especially if a solo traveller is that no-one speaks any English and payment is only in cash which I did not know until I arrived. Thank God for the translate app on my phone as it was extremely difficult (almost impossible) to even attempt to communicate the basics. I do also have to be honest in that if felt like Mama Mambo was more friendly to Spanish speaking guests which did feel slightly unfair. I appreciate English is not the first language in the Dominican, however for where the hotel is based and it being advertised in booking.com I would have expected even the basics.

Positive: I only liked the coffee at breakfast. Filtered coffee but tasty and strong enough. Other than that breakfast was pretty basic. It was just a guacamole and cheese sandwich. Was there just to tick the breakfast box.

Negative: I hadn’t realized that the bathroom was shared.

Positive: Clean place and location good. The best part is the Greatest Colmado across the street.

Negative: Noisy. No door ...just the gate and the entire area inside is open so you have both street noise and you hear everything going on inside the place...talking etc ...and they hear you. They have only one room with a bathroom and AC. One with no AC. No other room has a private bathroom. Three levels of pricing. I paid for the most expensive but then they tried to tell me I was in a room without a bathroom. Like many they are not understanding the Genius level discounts on booking. They need to be sure to label in the title of the room types the room numbers/names.
