Summary: Our friendly hostess, Dana, provided us with a daily breakfast ($5/person), a spacious room, and plenty of sightseeing and dining recommendations. She and her husband live in a home attached to the lodging, so they were available anytime we needed something. I strongly recommend this hostal. Room tip: ask for the front bedroom with the open air courtyard.

Summary: We enjoyed our stay at the Girasol very much. It is very professionally run, the owners and staff are very helpful in arranging tours and taxis. The staff is super friendly and make you feel so welcome and very much at home. We had our breakfasts and two dinners at the hostal (note: there is an extra charge for these, as is usual everywhere in such lodgings in Cuba) and they were very good. The hostal is a short walk to the Cathedral and central square, and to the Casa Granda hotel with its beautiful rooftop terrace, which we recommend for a snack or drink, especially at sunset. We had a room on the ground floor which was a bit small and faced the courtyard so we kept the window shut much of the time for privacy.
