The space
This large, traditional Portuguese holiday villa blends amongst the greenery and tranquility that surrounds it. Spacious enough to welcome the whole family, it holds 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms in the main house, as well as one bedroom and bathroom in the annex. This villa is designed to bring you the ultimate comfort: a fully equipped kitchen, a large dining room, a warm and cosy lounge with a library, TV and inviting fireplace, a games room with table tennis… It even holds a breakfast room that opens onto the garden, so you can wake up with a smile as you take in nature’s morning sweetness with your breakfast tea or coffee at hand.
The outdoors features an expansive garden with an immense 15-meter long pool, and changing rooms right by it for that extra touch of comfort. There is also a full-sized tennis court on the other side of the garden, so as to keep everyone happy!

Colares is a sweet, typical Portuguese village, located between Azoia and the enchanting town of Sintra, reinvested in by artists, antique dealers, local markets, friendly cafes, it even has its own winery! In the last few years, a more “alternative” vibe has started emerging, where local markets with organic produces are held regularly, as well as permaculture workshops, equestrian events, yoga retreats, alternative healing centres, and many cultural visits all being available nearby!
The beautiful beaches of Praia das Maçãs and Praia Grande are just 3 minutes’ drive away, and the historical town of Sintra (declared by UNESCO as World Heritage) with all its palaces and gardens is less than 10 minutes’ drive away. The picturesque village of Azenhas do Mar, perched on top of the ocean, is just 5 minutes’ drive from the property and Cabo da Roca, the most Western point of the European continent, a 10-minute drive away. Surfer's paradise Ericeira is within 20 minutes reach by car.
Walking distance from the house, you will find the traditional tram (dating from the early 1900s), which runs every summer’s day between Sintra and Praia das Maças; definitely a fun experience to try out!
Cascais is about 20 minutes away, and the bustling capital, Lisbon, just over half an hour's drive away. Alternatively, if you want a more “local” journey, you can also hop onto the train at Sintra and arrive in the hub of Lisbon, “Rossio”, 30 minutes later!

Arrival: Rent begins, unless otherwise agreed, at 16h. Should a different time be requested, the tenant must provide the estimated time of arrival to the property and My Friends’ Houses will do their best to meet these times. On busy days, the tenant may be kindly asked to wait a short time. In case of late arrival or delays, the tenant must notify us. The owner, representative of the owner or My Friends’ Houses, will be there to welcome the tenant, show the property and inform the tenant of all the necessary practical details.
Departure: The lease ends at 10h, maximum on the last day of the rental period unless otherwise agreed with the parties. Summary: You could not pick a more perfect spot for a family vacation in Colares. Our family enjoyed hours at the pool, trips to the beach, Sintra and Cascais, not to mention the fun spots for dinner and drinks. Jose was a gracious host who met us when we first arrived. He made sure we had everything we needed. Walk to town, grocery in walking distance, and plenty of space for all 7 of us.

Summary: We thoroughly enjoyed staying here. The house is in a great location... away from hussle-bussle of the big city. Great place if you are looking to relax and be closer to nature. Lots of great places to visit nearby. The two has some great coffee shops, restaurants etc. The house itself was quite big and spacious. Ideal if you have a big group 6-8 people.

Summary: We spent one week here (with 3 teenagers 15-17-18) in July. The house and the property was amazing! Very clean, spacious, quiet and private. The garden was beautiful with a large pool and the property had its own tennis court.Just a few minutes walking to a local super market and a small cafe. Within 10 minutes drive, you could reach the fantastic beaches and with very good restaurants where you could watch beautiful sunsets while eating dinner.The owner was very friendly and helpful. We would definitely want to come back!

Summary: The host was most welcoming & helpful. The villa was clearly a much loved family home now shared with visitors. The pool garden tennis courts and games room mean children & adults are always entertained. The garden is very well maintained. Ample secure parking. The kitchen is one of the best equipped for those who love to cook that we have ever experienced and the local produce is a joy to create beautiful dishes which you can enjoy inside or out! Cook on the great range or outdoors on the built in poolside BBQ. There is space for the family to be together or be apart. Good WiFi and TV. This quiet villa is well served by public transport and taxis are relatively cheap by European standards. Local restaurants are good and local supermarket very well stocked with great produce. Colares is well placed to visit the many beautiful & historic destinations in this area. We loved our stay and would happily return.

Summary: From initially booking to landing back in the UK the communication with the owner has been perfect. The attention to detail to ensure our stay was everything you would want, was perfect. The property itself is excellent, located perfectly for the local town, shops and bars/ restaurants and only a short taxi ride to the coast or to Sintra to satisfy some exploration, shopping and some great sights and places to eat. Facilities at the property are excellent and overall cannot fault the holiday. Would recommend this place without hesitation

Summary: Beautiful villa supplied with everything you could want or need. Fantastic pool and entertainment area. Comfortable, clean beds. Well equipped kitchen. Beautiful well kept gardens. Mini-mart short walk away, half hour walk to beach or regular bus service. Host made it very easy with good communication and check-in/out. Really enjoyed our stay here and was sorry to leave.
