4 Bedroom House in Horseshoe Lake, Hughes

This is a quiet lakeside cottage located on a fenced 2 acre lot. The original structure was built in 1927 by J. L. Burgie and has remained in the family ever since. Extensively remodeled in 2000, our lake house is a perfect retreat from the pressures of the city. A private pier (not child proof) and concrete boat ramp provide easy lake access. Even in the winter the sunroom is perfect for reading, writing or just contemplating the sun setting over the lake. For warmer days relax on the screened in porch.
Horseshoe Lake provides excellent fishing, and many kinds of birds and other wildlife may be seen near the house, depending on the time of year, including white pelicans, great egrets, bald eagles, barred owls, orioles, cormorants, and warblers. The Cache River Nat'l Wildlife Refuge is within about an hour's drive.

Summary: The owner was easy to get ahold of with any questions. We used to stay here in college, and 15 years later, still coming back. The new dock is much better than the one it replaced. Great place to stay on horseshoe. Everything as described, and looking forward to the next family trip.

Summary: It had everything we needed for two guys on a fishing trip. However, bring your own food and plan on cooking as there is nothing in this remote location. Clean, but the outside could be freshened up. The picture is a little misleading. We didn't use the on property boat ramp, it looked real sketchy. The courtesy dock was nice for when lunch time came.

Summary: Nice place in a nice community

Summary: We loved the house. So much like my Grandma's house. Full of antiques and southern charm. Everything we needed was in the house, even fishing poles. Jeff was a great host and provided easy communication and feedback with questions. We were visiting my son in Memphis and now have a new Favorite place to stay. Just far enough away from the Hussle and bussle of Memphis but close enough to all conveniences.

Summary: It is a great location and the house is interesting but needs work. Pros: Location Coffee maker was brand new Lots of windows Cons: None of the fireplaces are usable despite fireplace being listed as an amenity. Running the microwave and oven at the same time causes the circuit breaker to trip. The house has a lot of junk in it. They should get rid of the broken or worn out things in the kitchen. I also suggest getting rid for the .22 caliber cartridges from one of the bedrooms.

Summary: Thoroughly enjoyed staying at this unique lake house built in the ‘20’s. Our view of the lake and sunsets are unforgettable and our dogs enjoyed the freedom of their own two acre fenced dog park. I know we will return for a needed getaway after the hustle of a move from Arizona, closing on a new home and the dreaded mountain of boxes to unpack. Thank you for allowing us a week of bliss.
