Welcome to our historical Civil War Farmhouse. The Stone home was built in 1789. With some of the original wood floors and beams. At the time of the Battle of Gettysburg (July 1863) the property 7 miles southwest of Gettysburg, had been a working farm for over 75 years. It was remodeled 15 years ago and became a cozy family home. Where children grew and memories were created. While keeping its historic character, also contains modern conveniences (updated kitchen and baths, central heating and air conditioning etc.) We’re located in a quiet residential area, away from the hustle and bustle of town life. Only about 10 mins from historic downtown Gettysburg.
We offer 3 bedrooms (upstairs, 1 Full. 2 Queen) and 1 ½ bathrooms. Fully equipped kitchen, dining area, Living room, a TV with streaming channels and Wi-Fi. All bedrooms are located on the 2nd and 3rd floor. Due to this being a historic home, ceilings and doorways are low. The floors creak and slant. The home may not be functional for people with certain physical mobility issues.

Summary: This home was so charming... Lovingly maintained, perfectly decorated, stunning grounds, thoughtful amenities. When asked how they wanted to spend our last night in Gettysburg, our children chose to return to Hartlaub House to enjoy a cozy dinner, a campfire, and Civil War cornhole- they LOVED staying here. Blessed with perfect weather for our visit, coffee on the porch was a dream and the short drive into town was scenic and convenient. The hosts were excellent- knowledgeable, friendly and accessible. We are already trying to find an excuse to visit again!

Summary: The farmhouse more than lived up to my expectations. It has the old farmhouse charm while also providing you with modern day amenities. It was a wonderful place to come back to each day after seeing the sites in Gettysburg. The owners checked in with us every so often to make sure everything was to our liking and to see if there was anything they could do for us. My wife and I will likely be coming back here again sometime.

Summary: This was our 2nd stay at this location. The historic home is perfect. The location is convenient to travel to the battlefield or into town. The owners are wonderful and answer all communication promptly. If heading to Gettysburg I would always choose to stay at this home.

Summary: The property was amazing! It was very clean and the historical charm we were looking for staying inna civil wat home. It is close to all of the attraction but far away enough for peace and quiet. At night at the fire pit we all heard phantom cannons and muskets going off. The only area of opportunity, is the owners need to invest in new beds. The beds were very hard and uncomfortable. Everyone in our party did not sleep well at all. Over all, it was a great spot.off. It was epic!

Summary: Being from California, we couldn’t believe the breathtaking scenery! So green and plush and full of wildlife. The house was stunning! Couldn’t believe we were actually staying in a home from the civil war era. The house was cozy, clean, relaxing and all the amenities provided were just amazing! The owners were so easy to communicate with and so friendly. Sitting out back or out front in the evenings was so cool hearing and seeing all the wildlife, it was surreal. We would absolutely stay here again and recommend this rental property to anyone wondering if this is a good place to stay. The answer is yes, you won’t be disappointed!

Summary: This was by far the best VRBO we have ever stayed in. It was incredibly well stocked with all the supplies we might need, many of which travelers forget (ziplocks, tinfoil, etc.) The yard games were perfect afternoon entertainment for our kids (7,9,14), and the yard space beautiful and relaxing. The beds were comfortable, and the space was relaxing and beautiful. A perfect quiet space to recover from a day of activity. We love the historic charm and modern amenities, and would love to return if ever the opportunity comes. Thank you to our hosts for making our stay so memorable.

Summary: This amazing property exceeded our family's expectations during our time in Gettysburg. It truly is beautiful inside and out. From the moment we stepped inside the home we felt as if we had taken a step back in time, while at the same time having an abundance of modern conveniences. The home is immaculately taken care of and clean. We spent 4 nights there and never ran out of clean linens, towels, or other extra items provided by the hosts. The home is spacious, which was nice for our family of five to be able to spread out a bit after a day touring the battlefield and town. Communication was always answered promptly and the hosts were beyond willing to make suggestions for dinner, etc. We plan on visiting Gettysburg again in the near future and without a doubt look forward to staying in this pre-Civil War treasure again.

Summary: Beautiful home with great outdoor space. There is only one full bathroom which is inconvenient at times but the half bath on first floor is appreciated.
