Positive: First, the house is clean, really homey and well equipped. It felt like home very quickly, we cooked most of our dinners there, the tea room was a wonderful addition, and the beds are comfy. There's also a huge beautiful outdoor garden, a whole lot of space, and a TV prepared with Miyazaki films to get you in the mood. Second, the location is nice - right next to the outdoor Onsen, short driving distance from some towns and restaraunts, and isolated from others - absolutely zero noise. You must rent a car though. Finally, the hosts are super nice and helpful - from connecting us to a great car rental company (Navi) to helping us order ferry tickets, giving tips and answering all of our questions.

Negative: Nothing. If you're scared of handling bugs (we encountered a couple of Yakushima common spiders / a single centipede) you might have an issue, but it didn't bother us too much. There's also all sorts of bug repellents in the house.

Positive: This is a truly wonderful house, we absolutely loved the design and all the features. There is absolutely everything you need and the view out on the garden is lovely. Our hosts were extremely helpful finding a rental car and helping us when our ferry was cancelled. The nearby Sea Onsen is a magical place… having stayed at Hirauchi Hot Spot made us happy!

Negative: Everything was perfect.

Positive: Everything was amazing about the property was amazing. Walking distance to natural hot-springs. A quintessential property to experience a Japanese home.

Negative: The only negative is that you will require to rent a car and have an international driving license.

Positive: This beautiful home exceeded our expectations. It was warm and cosy when we arrived. The location was just wonderful. They provided us with complimentary tea and coffee. It had all the utensils we needed to cook ourselves a lovely meal. Honestly, the photos didn't do it justice. I just wish we could have stayed longer.

Positive: It’s big, it’s beautiful, totally in wood, it’s spacious, it’s sort of isolated but yet walking distance from the onsen and a really good restaurant! The owner is very responsive and has been helping us prepare the trip from the day of the booking months before we arrive, answering our questions about the ferries, car rental, weather, etc. I was there with a friend d and would love to return with the family; my kids and wife would love it 🥰

Negative: It would be even better to understand how the sea onsen works. Turns out the only time it was open when we were there was between midnight and 6am when the tide is low. In fairness we did not have time anyway but others might :-)

Summary: A whole Japanese house just for you. A superb location in an amazing island.

Positive: Beautiful house in a nice, a bit remote area but there a a few good restaurants close by. A car is recommended but can be organized via the owners. There’s a fully equipped kitchen and a yakiniku bbq.

Positive: Absolutely gorgeous and comfortable. Close to A-Coop grocery store with delicious food options. Generous, flexible, and responsive hosts. There may come a time in your planning process where you question whether it’s easier to stick to bigger areas like Anbo or Miyanoura. Resist this thought and stay at Hirauchi Hot Spot. It’s easy to drive to attractions like Yakisugi Land and Shiratani Unsuikyo, but also uniquely positioned to visit Hirauchi Onsen at night. Imagine yourself in a warm, rocky pool under the stars, with the wild ocean crashing before you. It’s just you and a few locals, enjoying the gifts of nature. It’s an amazing, once-in-a-lifetime experience. Stay at Hirauchi Hot Spot and don’t miss out.
