Positive: The owner dear Soya is very helpful. We got assistance we needed. The house is cosy and safe . In a auite area.

Negative: Markets and restaurants are very limited in the area so we had to go to Otsu . ( Not a big problem actually, 15 minutes)

Positive: The property was really clean and everything we needed was available in-house. Sayo was very helpful all the time we needed help.

Negative: It was more or less what we were expecting from the description so nothing we did not like. Maybe new slippers should be provided for the guests since you have to take off your shoes when entering the house.

Summary: Not a bad choice but I think you have to have a car to travel to Kyoto.

Positive: Blue Roof Hiei was a wonderful stay in a comfortable well maintained home. The host had excellent communication and provided many useful travel tips including parking in Kyoto. We loved the local sites including Hieizan temple and hiking trails. The house was well equipped with a nice little back yard (our kids loved to play there) and the kotatsu (table with heater underneath) was a great hangout space for watching TV or working. Overall it was a cozy and quiet refuge from the hustle of Kyoto. Our family will definitely be returning here on our next visit to Kansai!

Negative: One toilet for 4 - 6 peoples take too long time ⌛️! Only with car traveling possible!

Positive: We booked this property with a bit of hesitation as there were very few reviews on booking.com and we didn’t regret it a second! It is in a very peaceful residential area, quiet, restful night’s sleep is guaranteed which was very important to us. The house is warm and cosy as we had a bit of a cold weather it was important. We felt at home and had a great base to explore the city of Kyoto, Otsu and all the surrounding area. There’s everything you would need in a household and more. There’s also a nice garden which we couldn’t use due to the cold weather. The owner is a very sweet attentive lady and a great host who took care of every single need of us, so that we felt like staying in a friend’s house. With or without car this accommodation is a great choice to escape the crowds of Kyoto and yet be in 25 min distance to downtown Kyoto. We stayed there for 10 days and explored the whole area. I cannot recommend Sayo’s place enough! I would love to come again sometime.
