Travel Purpose: leisure

Positive: Location is 10min drive outside of Bovec. The space was clean and as pictured. Quiet and peaceful surroundings. Responsive owner. We were here at the start of October with a spell of cold weather, so we couldn't enjoy the terrace or garden. There was a "welcome" document (pdf was emailed) that contains essential information regarding use of the apartment (water heating, A/C controls, etc). It also gives suggestions for restaurants and activities in the area. I suggested to the owner to have it printed out and kept in a folder for guests as it is useful.

Negative: The apartment was ok for our 3 night stay. Our main issue was that the converted attic apartment has few and small windows and thus little natural light coming in. One bedroom has only a skylight, the second has only a small square window on the floor (basically dark all day). The kitchen/living area has 1 set of regular windows, with a wonderful view of the mountains, but it was too small to really light up the entire space. So it just felt very dark and a little closed in the whole time we were there, especially when it rained for 1 of those days and we had to stay indoors. The A/C heating was malfunctioning when we were there. So the owner had us go out to the local shop in Bovec to pick up a small space heater. He reimbursed for the expense. Other things to note (not necessarily negative, but just to be aware) are that the bathroom water boiler is small, so you have to take short showers and allow some time in between people showering; The double bed is on the smaller side, so for 2 people, it was a bit of a squeeze. And guests are tasked with sorting and disposing of rubbish, recycling and compost. Also with running AND emptying the dishwasher before leaving. Overall, an ok place for a short stay. It just didn't really feel like we were on "holiday" though we understand that everyone has a different standard for what being on "holiday" is. It is their first season running the rental so there are definitely some kinks to be worked out.

Summary: Acceptable accommodation in quiet village, with easy access to hikes and attractions in the area.
