Positive: The staff were very friendly and helpful especially the manager who got out of bed to check us in at 4am. Our triple aspect room was large and offered great views over the tea fields. I love the history of the property and how the tea factory features have been retained.

Negative: The rooms could do with a makeover and a higher standard of cleaning. The bathrooms need updating and walk-in showers would be a bonus. The dining options are limited and although the buffet was large the food was not the best quality. The mountain road up to the property is narrow and steep/bumpy so a good car is required. If you are arriving at night/early hours of the morning be mindful that getting into the hotel can be tricky and security is tight.

Positive: Enjoyed meals at the restaurant very well decorated food was good. Chief Chef Shanmu was very welcoming and looking after every time we went there.

Negative: Over all hotel is very good all the staff members are very courteous. Tea Factory is converted into a hotel very intelligently using many items of the factory in the hotel decoration.

Positive: The hotel is beautiful and situated in an amazing setting high up on the hills of Nuwara Eliya. 25 mins out of the way from town. It is very colonial and old fashioned. The food is delicious and plentiful. We also had a very relaxing message- and this was offered to a 12 year old too unlike in the UK so she was very very happy.

Negative: On arrival it transpired that there had been a misunderstanding about the fee quoted online. We arrived late in the dark and tired. The receptionist informed us that we needed to pay an extra 100 dollars for the children (we had booked 2 twin rooms and stated the ages of the children in advance so it was very clear) but the lady argued with us repeatedly and insisted that we pay despite the fault not lying with us. Fortunately the manager was contacted and he sorted everything out. We did not pay any additional fee.
