Positive: Hendro is a really great guy, whose easy going and who you can talk to about life. The place is walking distance from the beach and you can rent surfboards at his place too.

Negative: Sometimes a bit chaotic but fast response on his telephone makes up for it!

Positive: Absolutely gorgeous stay next to the beach (200m) great room and even better hospitality. Stayed here for almost a week and had the best time, great waves right outside the stay, Hendro has board rentals at a good price which is open from early morning till after sunset so you'll never miss out on catching some fun ones. The homestay also serves really tasty banana pancakes with tea for breakfast. The hospitality and help from Hendro is unmatched, provided with all the information and help needed from information of the surf in the surroundings areas to transfers to the airport after my stay was finished. Thank you vary much for everything. 10/10 will come back.

Positive: Hendro is a super friendly guy full of tips about the area and very helpful. He has three properties which explains some of the other reviews saying the check in was confusing, but I found him to be communicative via WhatsApp. He sent me his location so I arrived at the correct place. You get free breakfast at his family warung near the beach which also has the surf boards you can rent for cheaper than on the main beach. I stayed in the budget room and the facilities are simple, but perfectly adequate and but reflect the bargain price. Hendro did show me the luxury room which was very nice, but also more expensive. Thank you for the fun stay! :)

Negative: Nothing, room is advertised and priced as budget. Perfectly reasonable.

Positive: Surf life on its best haha, people are really lovely. Hendro trys to help as much as he can. And hes a great teacher. If you book the cheap rooms, don't forget earplugs, road is sometimes noisy.

Positive: The place is super close to the beach and still kinda private! There are some nice Warungs around - Hendro’s Warung is the best tho! :) Hendro is an awesome host! He showed us around, gave us surfing lessons and was just generally nice and helpful - we would always come back to this place!

Positive: Pulau Merah is near the famous surf of G-land, but not close enough to visit without some help (and a jeep). Hendro took out several days to tour me through the mangroves (introducing me to the famous walking fish!), journey into the jungle, and finally visit the surf I’ve heard about for years. Along the way we met a bunch of his friends and I picked up some Indonesian too! If you’re arriving with interest in Alas Purwo national park, surfing G-land, or any number of other activities in the vicinity, I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending Hendro as your host and guide.

Negative: Arrival was a bit confusing as I didn’t meet Hendro till later. He eventually came by in the evening to make a plan for the coming days.

Positive: Classic backpacker spot right next to the beach (100m). Hendro is a lovely guy and was super helpful during my stay.

Negative: Epic amount sof plastic that washes in from the sea every day. The locals do regulars clear ups which was good to see. You can join in. Hopefully the government will ban one use plastics soon
