Positive: This place is just magical. The host really made us feel most welcome in her space. The whole area is just gorgeous, like stepping into a fairy tale, waking up to those views, and the sound of nature was out of this world. The host left us fresh scones, jam, coffee, milk and tea. Everything was sparkling clean. It's really close to the city, but you still get all the advantages of being out in nature. The hosts were really understanding as well, when my little brother accidentally knocked over one of their lamps. If you are looking for an amazing place to relax and unwind, this is it!

Negative: Nothing, everything was perfect.

Positive: Dee & Billy are wonderful people. They leave you alone unless you ask them to join you, which I suggest you do. We've gained some new friends. The property is very picturesque, with old world charm. Where we stayed was decorated as you'd expect an Irish cottage to be, except for the bathroom which was very modern. It's quiet, peaceful and very comfortable. Dee was great with correspondence and very flexible with our check in time. We only stayed one night and I wish it was longer.

Negative: It's about a 15 minute drive from Kilkenny downtown. Nothing is walkable from here. We didn't plan on leaving after we checked in so this wasn't an issue for us.

Summary: Beautiful property. Wonderful owners.

Positive: My stay was wonderful. The cottage is newly renovated and is a delightful blending of old elements into new construction. The couple were kind and respectful of my privacy. The property is remote enough to provide a taste of the rural landscape, but close enough to drive into the city for a meal. This is good for someone who wants solitude or a nice walk or to cycle down a country road.

Negative: Nothing; everything was very good.

Positive: I booked Hemma Grove last minute and just for one night but it has left such a lasting impression. The farmhouse has been restored with extraordinary care and attention—every detail feels intentional, from the decor to the beautifully preserved character of the original building. Dee kindly accommodated our very late check-in on Friday night, which we were so grateful for. We had to leave early the next morning, but in that short time we were struck by how comfortable and calming the space is. The beds were exceptionally comfortable, and the large walk-in shower added a real sense of luxury. What stood out most was how the home honours those who lived there before—through carefully restored doors, artefacts, and design choices that feel respectful and considered. We were genuinely struck by the work that Dee and Billy have poured into this place. Everything has been thought of, and it shows. This is a place of great serenity, surrounded by trees and wildlife located beside Dee and Billy’s home. A very special place—one that needs to be experienced to be truly appreciated. Thanks so much.
