Negative: Noise: The walls were paper thin. I heard the owner's family members as if they were in my room. They have a noisy son who groaned loudly every morning. Window: There was one window, with a heavy roller blind that had a broken pull chain. So the shade could not be opened.

Positive: Location was perfect for my needs, close to shops and restaurants and in a very nice neighborhood. Communal kitchen was helpful for fixing tea and breakfast, bathroom was clean and well stocked, bed was comfortable and place was quiet.

Negative: It would be nice to have a comfortable chair in the room and perhaps a larger table. Storage space for personal belongings is quite limited, good enough for one person but might be tight with two people.

Summary: A lovely guesthouse room in a prime neighborhood of Berkeley, comfortable and convenient location.

Positive: Characterful house...complete with creaky floorboards! Comfy bed. Communal kitchen with coffeemaker...although real milk would've been appreciated. Good location.

Negative: Minimal storage space for clothes and belongings. Adjacent annexe to building housed (I think) owners' family...thin walls (Hemlock Room) meant domestic activities all too audible. Bathroom towel rail coming away from wall. Plaster dust from drilling fixings for the vanity lights above sink hadn't been cleaned from the beneath where it had fallen. Cobwebs in the shower.
