Positive: The take-away breakfast on the day of our safari was excellent. The breakfast at the hotel was also very good indeed. We loved the small fruit shots - and the hot breakfasts were good too.
Negative: Service can be slow in the bar and glasses are measured by eye not by volume. There was an instance when we were ordering wine by the glass and one glass was clearly less than a standard glass but as the bottle was finished, we were given what was left! Some of the staff may be very skilled at pouring an exact 175ml glass... but I don't think they all are. The barman fixed this problem. In addition, we ordered some cocktails and the waiting time to take the order, and then make the drink was so long that our meal had arrived before the drinks. Perhaps this was because it was a Saturday when guests come in from outside the hotel? It could be worth having more staff to help if this is the case on such occasions. The rest of our stay was first class: the staff, even in the bar (☺️); the welcome; the beautiful room; the food quality... the amazing view from the terrace at sunset.
Summary: Luxury in Karen with a beautiful welcome, friendly staff and a fabulous, comfortable room.

Positive: I really enjoyed my time at Hemingways, we received a warm welcome and our rooms exceeded expectations with the extra bed for my son and still had so much space. The Hotel was classic with timeless class. The breakfast options were fantastic and staff were so accommodating.

Positive: Hemingways is a characterful luxurious hotel, where all the rooms are spacious suites overlooking the Ngong Hills. Its a far cry from the hustle of the city of Nairobi! We find it both tranquil and elegant, and the staff go out of their way to make guests comfortable. The suites feel like film sets from Out of Africa!
