Plenty of room, Freeview TV, great woodburner, home theatre, awesome drying room and NO BUNKS. Come and make the most of the "Adventure Plateau", with Haven as your base. In Spring/Summer you can sit out on the large deck and watch the sun go down over the flowering dogwoods, with the river babbling in the background and warbling tui's and bellbird's doing their last rounds. When it gets cooler, snuggle up around the fire with a glass of mulled wine and a good book, play cards or bring along your favourite DVD movies.
For the more active, Haven is nestled between the world heritage Tongariro National Park, Tongariro Forest Park, and only a stones throw away from the Whanganui National Park, Haven offers an awesome base for your Central Plateau adventures.
Raurimu is home to the world famous Raurimu Spiral (2nd level visible from the front porch), and is only 20 mins to Whakapapa ski field, 40 mins to Turoa ski field, and about 20 mins to the nationally renowned Taumarunui Golf Course.
The Tongariro Alpine Crossing is rated the best one day trek in New Zealand, and listed by many as one of the top-ten day treks in the world. Haven is the perfect base for the Crossing, where shuttles to pick you up and drop you off at the start and end of the track, are available from National Park only 5 min drive away. You could prepare your meal in the slow-cooker before you leave, and have it ready and waiting for you when you return.

Summary: We really enjoyed our stay at the Haven. It was very warm with the wood burner and heaters in each bedroom. Big dining table and drying room were great benefits. Kids enjoyed variety of puzzles, board games and dress ups.

Summary: This place was perfect for our skiing holiday. We were a group of six, two mums and four kids, and it suited us beautifully. The kids absolutely loved the toys and the cozy fireplace. The house was well-heated throughout, and the drying room was a fantastic bonus. It made getting our ski gear ready for the next day so easy. The location was also very convenient, less than 10 minutes to Four Square and just 25 minutes to Whakapapa. While the house is older, it is clearly well cared for and maintained. Thank you so much for hosting us. We would love to come back for another holiday.

Summary: Property was not properly cleaned when we arrived. Dishwasher was not working as it should. The linen cupboard was not organized and all over the place. The bed and sheets smelled like it has been used several times. Spiders and spider webs are present upon arrival so we had to remove them by ourselves. We were surprised that we need to take or rubbish back home since they have no bins. Overall, the house and items inside the house is old and might need some upgrade or renos.
