Positive: Happy Neko was so fantastic! We couldn't have asked for a better location, and the room was so cozy. The host was very kind and gave us a map highlighting all the best restaurants and onsen in the area. It felt like a little home away from home and we were really sad to leave!

Positive: The check-in and information of the local surroundings and where to go in Beppu were spot on. We really appreciated the help. No shower/bath in the room but you are in Beppu for a reason right? Go to one of the tens and tens of public bathhouses or reserve a private bath like we did. Again, all thanks to the great staff helping out with recommendations!

Negative: The kitchen is low, but thats coming from a 195cm Dutch guy. So take that for what you make of it for your own length.

Positive: The location is amazing being walking distance from the main hot spring attractions and a ton of onsens. The owner was very helpful and gave us a map and explained where all important things were. The room was a good size with a separate kitchen and tatami room. Nice amenities were provided free of charge.

Negative: Maybe because I’m not used to it, but the futons seemed a little thin and I was sore when I woke up.

Positive: Such a lovely little apartment, Japanese-style, with all the necessary amenities! The AC was the cherry on top — we arrived on a very cold day (0°C!) and it heated the room up in no time. The futons were super comfy and warm too. There's no shower in the apartment, but it's very close to lots of onsens, so you'll definitely get to shower and relax there. 😊

Negative: Everything was top. We only wished we could have stayed longer!
