Positive: The hotel is located in a really good place close to restaurants, bus and train station. The staff was really friendly. The onsen is very nice and spacious!

Negative: I didn't like that the room was a bit old with a small window seeing a wall. The curtains were dirty. And the corridor was smelled of food because they have a small kitchen on every floor.

Positive: The renovated riverside western room with private onsen was beautiful. The two meals served in the room (with the halfboard) by the lovely japanese lady made it feel like a honeymoon, it included around 7 courses. Yukatas were included as well as other nice details. Gabriele also gave us a very warm and welcoming escort-tour through the facilities upon our arrival. The location was great for the arrival and subsequent tour through the whole hakone area. Old timey sensations in a nicely renovated place. A pity the time flew by and we only could stay one night.

Positive: Luxury style waterfront onsen hotel with direct access to transport and pretty much everything you would need. This hotel is classy with a reception bar and multiple onsen baths for both genders. Super family comfortable.

Negative: Nothing. This place is a gem

Positive: We loved the traditional Japanese room with private onsen, sitting in the onsen while the rain poured outside and we overlooked the river was magical. While we were at dinner the table was moved away and the tatami mats we laid in the (huge) main room, had a very comfortable night. The hotel itself is beautiful, we also enjoyed wearing the yukata with which each guest is provided (non mandatory).

Negative: Sadly, we less enjoyed our kaiseki dinner and Japanese breakfast. While we appreciate the large variety of beautifully arranged dishes absolutely new and sometimes challenging to our European palette, we felt a bit rushed with new courses arriving long before we had the chance of finishing. We also would have needed further explanation of when to use e.g. the many sauces provided. Next time we would consider eating a la carte in one of the two restaurants in the hotel.

Summary: Perfect romantic hotel, would reconsider choosing food option

Positive: The location was excellent- just a 7 or 8 minute walk from the station. From the hotel you can hear the river and see the mountains. The staff were very friendly and despite previous reviews saying they did not speak English we did not have any trouble. We had a Japanese room with city view - the room was spacious and the beds were comfortable. The public onsen was lovely.

Negative: The room, while spacious, was in need of some refreshing. Paint was chipped in a number of areas which made it feel quite shabby. While the food was beautifully presented and there was a lot of food, it was all fish, no meat and was not to our taste. We like fish, we are not fussy and are adventurous with food, but we found some of the food challenging.

Positive: The rooms were a lovely size, the hotel was very nice in a great location. The lobby area was lovely to sit and relax in. Every evening they had free drinks. Perfect for a peaceful stay.

Positive: The location was good and the room was lovely and spacious, and the Onsen area was wonderful. Staff were very kind and helpful. In particular, the woman who assisted with my meals (as I had forgotten to inform them of my vegetarian diet) was extremely patient and accommodating - I'm very grateful :)

Negative: Wish I could have stayed longer
