Positive: The location is amazing. The buildings, the Onsen and the food are top. We loved it. It’s like a small peaceful heaven in the mountains, such a contrast with the buzzing Tokyo. The walk along the river is very nice, views and falls.

Positive: An amazing experience. The location is beautiful and the onsen is great. It is worth staying for 2 to 3 days minimum to relax and have some hiking in the mountains around the onsen.

Positive: Good service. Very helpful and friendly staff. Traditional and hidden gem. Set dinner and breakfast were abundant and featuring local food. Delish. From Kinugawa onsen station up to Hacho no yu, the scenery was picturesque

Positive: Absolutely loved this place! One of the highlights of our trip to Japan. Wish we could have stayed more than 2 nights. As others have said, getting here is a bit of an adventure, but that’s also what makes it so special. The food was excellent, the outdoor onsen amazing! Highly recommend!!
Negative: The outdoor onsen are mixed and have limited female or male only hours.

Positive: The location. But try to get there early at daylight. The drive is difficult.
Negative: Everything was fine I wished I understood better that the shuttle is only way to get there

Positive: Hatcho No Yu is a very cozy small hotel up in the mountains. It was very nice inside and the onset was good. Our room was very nice and spacious with an amazing ceiling height.
Negative: Outside of the hotel you are greeted by a lot of junk lying around unfortunately. The onsen was nice but in the mixed parts you are not allowed to wear a bathing suit and the only thing they give you is one towel to sit in the bath with? There were also naked Japanese men in the onset which of course was not appreciated by the women there. That is of course not the hotels fault directly by they should have made it clearer if it was allowed or not...
