Positive: Location was great. Communication was good.

Negative: There was a damp and slightly gassy smell throughout the downstairs. The sitting room was very dark even with all the lights on. There was rust on the radiator in the bathroom. The bins out the back were overflowing with rubbish. The front door was very hard to open and shut due to swelling of wood. It feels tired and rundown (end of season I appreciate) and not great value for money considering the price.

Positive: Lovely property located close to the two pubs, small local shop and the ferry across to Fowey. Comfortable bed and furniture and fantastic shower with strongest water pressure outside of a power shower.

Negative: Nothing, everything was great.

Positive: In the centre so easy to walk to harbour and local pubs..kitchen had all you needed. Comfy double bed. Clean.

Negative: It was a bit tired inside..lounge sofa and chair not that comfy.needs updating. Front door still stiff needs some work.

Positive: Ideally located in Polruan, comfortable double bed, excellent power shower, spacious living room/ kitchen, nice wood-burning stove, comfy armchairs and sofa. Dishwasher, washing machine, toaster, microwave and kettle as well as oven were great.

Negative: I felt the kitchen was missing some essential items especially as it’s a self catering cottage and people are expecting to be able to cook for themselves. There could be more oven proof dishes, wooden spatulas, small kitchen knife that cut properly for cutting vegetables and potato peelers for example. Glasses ( tumblers and smaller wine glasses) would be good too. I think the front door needs addressing as it’s very hard to push open and close. The wood is expanding with the humidity probably and it’s very difficult to open. The second bedroom door creaks terribly and some oil wouldn’t go amiss. There was a very strong smell when we first came in and I think the wooden beams in the kitchen had been treated and varnished/ sealed but it reeked of paraffin like fumes to the point we had to open all the windows and doors downstairs. It disappeared partially after a while, but shouldn’t be done if people are staying, especially if someone suffers from asthma. The stairs are very steep, but we knew this. The single beds mattresses aren’t that comfortable though 🤷🏻‍♀️

Summary: Adequate but could be improved easily. The caretaker John, was very attentive to our needs and helpful.

Positive: Nice cottage with tasteful furnishing and querky ornaments. It was clean and tidy. We were welcomed with a homemade cake and complementary box with tea, coffee, milk sachets and biscuits which was a nice touch.

Negative: Disappointed as we couldn’t access the raised patio area as one of the wooden steps was rotted and broken and was blocked off and the patio furniture needed cleaning. The stairs to the bedrooms was vey steep so wouldn’t be suitable for people with mobility problem
