Positive: The room was lovely and authentic with great views. The room was definitely good value for money for such a beautiful location. There was a convenience store within a 10 minute drive. The owner was helpful to show us what hikes were nearby although it rained so we were unlucky.

Negative: The common areas were basic and a little untidy but we didnt mind. We had to ask permission to use the shower (which was in a separate building) outside of the hours 4pm - 10pm - we like morning showers so it was a little inconvenient having to ask each evening. Having to walk outside in the rain to the shower room was inconvenient. We had to pay a small fee to use the cooker. We initially found the owner to be unwelcoming... but maybe he was having a bad day, as later in our stay he was friendly. I'd reccomend having a car as this location as it is far from most hikes/shops/cafes.

Positive: Rooms are amazing tatami style, view is phenomenal. Very authentic beautiful place, highly recommended.

Negative: They are really strict about the check-in time and you are not allowed outside afterwards so as to not disturb other guests

Positive: Beautiful Guesthouse right in a beautiful valley. The view from our room was just breathtaking. On top of that, the host is super friendly. Perfect for people who like a cozy stay in nature!

Positive: Super friendly host, also offers dinner and breakfast options which we booked - both super delicious, homemade food. The location is just a amazing, in the middle of nature, and wonderful, more than 100 year old traditional Japanese house. What an incredible experience! We also had a great conversation with the host during dinner, he's very likeable and takes care of the guests.

Negative: Don't expect a modern house. It gets cold at night outside of your room (you have a heater in your room) and the sinks for washing your hands are not very pretty (but clean).

Positive: If you book here, you will have an exceptional time at Nishiki. This old fashioned guesthouse will leave you feeling at home, especially under the shared Kotatsu or your own private one in your room (with a beautiful view!). The owner is very kind and showed us the icicle lights ✨️ We had loads of fun, scrambling about in the river, climbing mountains and cycling 50km in the wilderness. So many good memories and adventures. We even had an adventure that involved rescuing a dog, a local policeman who took us to Mitsumine Shrine and after dark shrine and cave explore. Highly recommend to stay here. If you like nature and a slightly eery vibe around the local village, book!
