Positive: Guest house Yamada was an amazing place to stay on our holiday in Hokkaido. The lady and her son tended to our every need and made us some amazing ramen. Would recommend to anyone looking for a calm, quiet cultural experience.

Positive: We came to Hokkaido to snowboard at Niseko/Rusutsu in February, and this place was a wonderful cozy home stay for our trip! You definitely need a car to get here, and it's about an 1hr drive to either ski resort. However, despite the distance, the place was really warm and clean, and the hosts made us feel at home. Every day they provided a variety of breakfast and coffee, cleared snow off our car, checked in on us to see if we made it to the nearby onsen for our evening baths, and even had laundry. There are mini heaters in the room that are powerful enough to keep the room warm, and the blankets provided are so comfy! The hosts themselves are incredibly warm, friendly, and helpful. Would definitely recommend a stay here!!

Negative: Need to drive to go to ski resorts but coming from Canada this was no big deal for us

Positive: While pretty remote it was very easy to access by public transports (only a 40 minutes bus ride from Datemombetsu station), the place itself is beautiful, and most importantly Yamada-san is probably the most helpful and attentive person I've met in Japan, she made us delicious ramen and helped us book a hotel !

Negative: Nothing, I simply regret that I could only spend so little time there

Positive: This stay was one of the best we've experienced! The hosts were incredibly welcoming, making us feel at home. They provided plenty of advice and answered all our questions. A ryokan style room very clean and spacious. The location was idea l- surrounded by nature, away from the city, and close to the lakes and onsens. Highly recommended!
