Positive: Top-notch amenities, marvelous views from the balcony (river, tea plantations), fantastic buffet breakfast with impressive variety of South Indian and western dishes that changed by the day, complimentary tea and snacks in the late afternoon by the river, excellent laundry service, very friendly and accommodating staff.

Negative: We had heard about a free cooking class in the evening, but this never seemed to take place. Also, while she is very cheerful and charming, Mahalakshmi, who is in charge of room cleaning, became rather irritating by the end of our four-night stay, given her incessant requests that we review her by name (and, to that end, quizzing us on her name). A cute quirk at first, but it got old by the fourth and fifth time.

Summary: One of the best hotel stays I've ever experienced

Positive: Our room overlooked the lake which had some wonderful birdlife to observe. The foyer and communal spaces were extremely well maintained and pristine. Staff were friendly and helpful. The large bed & pillows were comfy

Negative: The room itself was dated and the decor didn't seem to match the pristine decor of the other areas of the hotel. The balcony was too small for chairs but perhaps a couple of small stools would be nice for guests to sit out and take in the views. Poor value for money. Poor exchange rate so we headed to another local hotel who gave us a better rate. We were asked if we were visiting for any special occasion and we mentioned that we were... however this was ignored and did not get a mention on arrival. All in all, a mediocre experience given the price

Positive: The staff of the Grand Plaza was wonderful all around, and the restaurant is one of the best in town. Our room was comfortable and bright, with three windows and a nice view of the river and back lawn where afternoon tea and snacks are served. The bathroom was modern and clean. The furniture in the room was perhaps a bit dated, but perfectly comfortable. Really enjoyed it. Good location to walk to other shops and restaurants in town.

Negative: We didn't have any screens in our windows to keep out mosquitoes, but also didn't have any mosquitoes when we left the windows open. Still, might be a nice safety measure on at least one window per room.

Positive: Ajaay the manager of the place is something special, he took care of everything we asked for, and did it with all his heart. We ate there one evening a meal that he cooked which was excellent! The location of the hotel is right on the canal, a very quiet and pleasant place, it has only 4 guest rooms and a huge garden and also a pool (we didn't use it). The rooms are large and spacious, very comfortable. We were greeted with a glass of delicious juice and cordially.

Negative: I think the sheets covering the duvet are too old.

Positive: The location was great. Near to all places we wanted to see. Breakfast was good. Day staff were friendly. Rooms were not that great but bed was comfortable.

Negative: The rooms looked quite dark. Lighting was not enough. Rooms need upgrading. There was a staff member who created disturbances at night by playing loud music with his friends in the reception area. Not very professional at all.

Summary: Perfect place to stay for a short stay due to location.
