Summary: This place is a miss. It’s extremely crowded and overwhelmingly family-oriented, with kids everywhere. Everything is overpriced and aggressively upsold—beach chairs cost extra, cabanas run about $800/day, coffee is $8, a can of coke is $10, and breakfast buffets run you $60+. Unless you pay for upgrades, there’s barely any space at the pools or on the beach. The gym is nice but you can’t even use the locker rooms or sauna if you don’t pay for an overpriced spa treatment. The showers don’t stay hot, the beaches are packed, and the walls are paper-thin. Expect to be woken up by drunk guests late at night or screaming children early in the morning (unfortunately, experienced both). At the pools they will blast music and you will not get an ounce of zen. If you’re looking for a relaxing, peaceful beach stay, this is not the vibe.

Summary: This was our second stay at Baha Mar. The resort itself is lovely with lots of amenities like the aviary, marine life sanctuary, kid friendly pools, water park, and beach. The Grand Hyatt hotel itself is nice but our 11th floor on the East Tower had a consistently foul odor near the ice machine room, and it was clearly a known issue by the staff but they offered no remedy. Our room was fine but the bathroom has a strong odor coming up through the shower drain, and it disappeared after you ran the water, so something deeper down in the drainage line. Not sure if these odor issues are connected but it definitely made the stay less than ideal.

Summary: This hotel is fantastic! Super nice, so may things to do, beautiful landscaping, so may pools, great beachfront - truly amazing. The only thing is that it is incredibly expensive! We didn’t drink much and ate at the restaurants - our bill at check out for 4 days was $1,400 with $700 of it being taxes. That was NOT for the room - just resort fees and food/drink. The food and drinks are sooo overpriced it is ridiculous. $10 for a draft beer and $18 for a cocktail. $30 for a less than average hamburger and fries. We normally come each year but this may be our last - just too much.
