3 Bedroom House in Bearsville

. This home and acres of gardens surrounding it, are our life's work - and have been featured in news papers and magazines. Both were designed to be a haven and refuge from the stresses of everyday life.
On the first floor are 2 living rooms. One has a beautiful old stone fireplace. and loads of comfortable seating. The coziest room in the house in winter.The second room overlooks, and opens onto, the main gardens and property. It has a large tv, Comphy overstuffed chairs and couch and includes a day bed that is always fought over for an afternoon nap.
Our designer kitchen is new, with every imaginable thing you could need.It opens onto our large screened in porch, which has dining for 8-10, an outdoor wolf barbeque, and a large sectional couch.
The dining room off the kitchen seats 8 as well and has floor to ceiling windows overlooking fields and mountains. The sheepskin covered daybed is a favorite place to watch the birds come to their feeders. There is also a new bathroom with a marble walk in shower.
Upstairs are 3 bedrooms, each with a n exceptionally luxurious queen bed, and each with mountain and garden views and lots of light. There are two beautiful bathrooms upstairs. One is all tumbled marble - very large with an air jet tub and huge walk in shower. The other is brand new with all the amenities you could want .
Outside are some of the most beautiful gardens you can imagine..filled with trees shrubs and perennials of every description. It is also spectacular in the winter when it is covered in snow. This property is truly a winter wonderland .Our seasonal heated pool has just been redone, and is surrounded by bluestone patios and walkways into the garden. there is a pool house and a queen sized outdoor bed by the pool.
Our charming screened in gazebo is in a private part of the property to get away from it all!
The house is filled with our art collection, and Gayle's sculpture is both inside and outside the home. Our furnishings and rugs are all high end designer. We gave curated the most wonderful pieces!
We are 5 minutes to the Bearsville theater complex.. it’s right down the road. 10 minutes to town with great restaurants, and close to all area hikes, and attractions. About 30 minutes to skiing.
It is a short walk to cooper lake where you can take in the most beautiful sunsets.

Summary: My family of six spent the Memorial Day weekend at this little paradise in the middle of the beautiful Catskill Mountains. The house is very comfortable, the pool is heated and perfectly situated on the grounds and the landscaping is breathtaking. The hosts could not be nicer. We will be back.

Summary: My husband and I spent six days in this home in this peaceful, bucolic very large home in Bearsville which is literally a few minutes from downtown Woodstock, great location. The home is quite beautiful with very spacious rooms. The grounds are extraordinary. The owner of the home is a landscape architect and it is quite obvious much time and love went into making it the most beautiful property I have ever seen. There is a large pool, which came in handy because the weather was in the 90’s. It was very special going in the pool and surrounded by so many flowers and vegetation. Don’t think I will experience something like that again. There was one thing about the house that made it feel like I was visiting my aunt and uncle, as opposed to being in a vacation rental. Every closet and drawer in the house except a small portion of a closet to hang our clothes (right next to the owners clothes and shoes) in the master were completely full of owners belongings. We did have a few drawers in the master to use also. Even the full size freezer was totally packed - so much so we had to make room for a pint of ice cream we bought. The very nice and large master bathroom had a lot of storage space but it was all completely full so I needed to put everything on the counter. It did have a huge tub and shower and a heated toilet seat. Super nice. Also, there were soooo many pictures of the family. I like families and family photos but it just didn’t feel like a vacation rental. The owners lived in the house but went on a vacation during the time we were there. If these things do not bother you, I would highly recommend this unique property.

Summary: This was our second stay at Ken and Gayle's gorgeous home. Can't recommend it highly enough -- the pool and grounds are gorgeous and perfectly maintained and the house is spacious and comfortable. Every amenity is offered and the hosts are warm and responsive. Already planning to book a return trip!

Summary: A great snowy retreat that is so close to the city. Peaceful and relaxing - also probably just as good experience in the Summer - given the amazing landscaping and pool.

Summary: We were lucky to have good health and jobs in the pandemic, but I was missing the swimming pool and botanic garden that sustain me, so we looked for those in a vacation house. With this spot, we couldn’t have done better: a flower garden teeming with butterflies, bunny rabbits, and sometimes hummingbirds, where you can walk many times without seeing it all; a wonderful pool heated to a perfect temperature so we could swim no matter the weather; and a huge screen porch to watch it all from. On top of that we had a house with the best cook’s kitchen we’ve ever rented (sharp knives and all), comfortable beds and beautiful bathrooms. We were even invited to pick whatever vegetables and herbs we liked from the well-stocked kitchen garden. Everything was perfect!
