Positive: Location was nice, 5 mn walk from the subway, 10 mn subway from Chicago downtown.

Negative: There were some difference between the picture and reality. For example, the couch on the picture looked a lot bigger that the one that is actually available in the house. There was a coffee machine, but no spare coffee pods.

Positive: free parking was a huge bonus. it was in walking distance to great food and venues. if you are in town for a show at thalia hall; it is perfect.

Negative: i saw the kurig coffee machine and thought there would be some pods some where; kinda disappointed to discover that in the morn…no biggie tho.

Positive: The place is located in a nice Mexican-American neighborhood full of colorful murals that we really enjoyed. There are several restaurants, grocery stores, a charming Mexican bakery, and a (free) Museum of Mexican Art, all within walking distance. The trip to the center took some 30 minutes by bus or train, which was OK for such a big city. The apartment itself was nice and spacious. Big TV, comfy sofa, beds and pillows. The kitchen was equipped with most essentials, pans, pots, even a toaster, a blender, and a french press, but lacked a little in glassware. The bedroom was generally quiet except for the occasional hum or the sound of a siren. The washing machine was located in a shared laundry room in the basement and was coin-operated as is pretty common in the US. Self check-in and check-out were smooth. The number of guests and ID had to be provided in advance. Communication with the host was to the point. He was friendly and promptly responded to any issues we had. All in all, we had a pleasant stay.

Negative: As for the downsides, the place could have been cleaner, and it also would have been nice to have some dressers, shelves, or more hangers in the otherwise spacious bedroom closet to unpack our clothes.

Positive: Living area is nice with nice artwork. Nice big TV. Nice easy keypad for access. Direct street is quite run down but 18th street with all the bars and cafes is cool. Very close to pink CTA station.

Negative: Kitchen quite dated. Bathroom very dated and in need of a refurb. Bedrooms have tatty blinds that don’t feel very homely. Clean but felt a bit dusty. Lights turn on but wasn’t clear how to do so without turning on attached fan which made the whole thing shake. Fridge water dispenser didn’t work. The main issue I have is the message received before arriving at the property. This asked if I was the only person that would be entering the property irrelevant of people staying the night. I found this very intrusive and I’m not even sure if it is allowed. Really shocked to receive this even though I was on business and was staying alone.

Summary: Nice place but needs a refurb. Rules and questioning about people entering the property not appropriate.

Negative: Property owner/manager attempted to require a Passport or ID number online AFTER I already paid a non-refundable fee. It took many appeals to Booking and the property owner before they agreed to let me stay without providing that information. Deceptive. Should be in the description prior to payment.
