Positive: This hotel is a gem. It is a joy to stay here. The building itself is historically fascinating, and it has been intelligently restored to preserve its charming, ancient décor and features, and simultaneously to ensure that it provides top-notch modern conveniences and cleanliness. On successive visits, year after year, one can see that these high standards are rigorously maintained. The establishment is run with impressive efficiency, thoughtfulness and professional expertise by a formidably energetic manageress. The rooms are impeccably "done" every day by the hotel's maids, who obviously take pride in their work. An excellent breakfast is provided. Finally, the hotel's superb position in the heart of old Eglisau, directly overlooking the Rhine, gives its guests immediate access to the lovely, grassy beach along the river, which is a haven of serenity. Swimming safely in the surprisingly warm water of the Rhine during July and August, in that gorgeous setting, is an unforgettable experience.

Negative: 237.- for one night is failry expensive and is not justified. (Dark rooms, uneven floors, expensive food but small menues)
