Castello di Montegufoni is an exclusive location to spend wonderful holidays in the heart of Chianti Region.
Dating back to the 12th century and restored in the 17th century by the noble family of Acciaioli, the Castle has a magnificent tower built on the model of the one of Palazzo Vecchio in Florence.
Montegufoni Castle is part of a large estate comprising vineyards and olive trees and is surrounded by the beautiful Chianti landscape. In the castle there are 39 apartments and a large garden with a nice swimming pool: the perfect spot to relax and have fun with your family and friends.
The Chianti Region is one of the most renowned charming area in Italy for its cultural, historical and enogastronomic traditions. This luxurious Castle offers to our guests incredible holiday experiences (on request) such as cooking lessons, event location, guided tours and more!
Distances from the villa: the small village of Montagnana V.P. with food shops 1 km, Montespertoli with all kinds of shops approx. 5 km, Florence 20 km, Pisa approx. 70 km.
A bus stop with busses to Florence is only a few meters from the castle away. Bikes and scooters for rent are available in Montespertoli.
At guests’ disposal: large and very charming terraced park furnished with garden furniture and table tennis, beautiful Italian gardens (dating back to the 18th century) with lemon trees and swimming-pool (12 x 6 m - open from 01/04 to 31/10). Reception open from 9.00 to 12.30 and from 14.30 to 18.30. The outbuildings of the castle as well were restored and turned into charming apartments. The castle is run by the Posarelli family. A nice restaurant offering nice recipes of the local Chianti tradition is open every night (from April to October except on Tuesdays). Laundry with shared washing-machine (€ 4,- / per washing). WI-FI internet connection available in some apartment, in the reception and restaurant area.
Extra services: on request possibility of renting a baby bed (€ 50,- / per week) and an extra bed (€ 100,- / per week) both payable locally.

Beautiful and prestigious apartment with frescoed ceilings situated in the southern wing of the castle.

Ground floor: large entrance once used as “sale d’armes”, spacious and bright living-room with beautiful frescoed ceilings, fireplace (non working) with frescoes of Pucci dating back to 1700 ad access, through 6 big French windows, to the charming Italian garden, bathroom with shower.
Mezzanine ground floor: double bedroom with ensuite bathroom with shower.
Some steps higher: dining-room with access to the kitchen and to a nice terrace furnished for outdoor meals looking over one of the courtyards of the castle.
1st floor: 3 double bedrooms, living-room with single sofa-bed, large bathroom with tub and fireplace (non usable), toilet.
All of the bedrooms offer nice views over the surrounding landscape.

Summary: Our place was great, we had a beautiful stay. The place was gorgeous and clean. It’s a old castle but with very beautiful grounds. We were a family group of nine. The stairs were quite steep and hard to get to the forth floor but worth it. Beautiful views of the Tuscan hills.

Summary: We stayed for three nights and really enjoyed our stay. There were things that could have been improved on… For example, there was nowhere to get breakfast or lunch. The nearest town is a good little hike down a hill and back up with groceries so having a car is a must. We used the local bus line and it was inconvenient. It would be great if they could provide a continental breakfast or even a vending machine for snacks/water. The castle itself was beautiful. The grounds and swimming pool were very much appreciated. And the castle even has a wonderful restaurant serving dinners every night but Tuesday.

Summary: The place was absolutely amazing, very nice area and beautiful old castle. Our huge apartment was quite unique especially the living room (galleria) was very beautiful. nice rooms with beautiful views and good bathrooms everything in romantic / rustic style. Nice terrasse. However, some of the furniture was some worn and especially the kitchen and accessories there needed an update (Nice to know that there is no oven and the coffee maker was missing the jug). However, the staff were incredibly sweet to help and very welcoming. The restaurant was fine too - very nice people there, but the barbeque night was a little sad with the food accessories. The pool area and garden were very beautiful and relaxing. Is nicely located (by car) compared to the exciting sights of Firentze, Livorno, Pisa, wine tasting, San giminone etc. Would highly recommend it, but you should not expect a modern hotel but an atmospheric beautiful old castle you never forget.

Summary: We (our family of five) had a very relaxing stay. We had a car to explore area: there are so many beautiful spots to explore. The huge living room with frescoed ceilings was fantastic and the Italian garden just outside was amazing. Our kids absolutely loved the use of the pool. Many thanks to Possarelli family for their ospitality.

Summary: We enjoyed very much our stay at Montegufoni. Stefania was really kind and we appreciated her hospitality. Very good dinners at Il Ristorantino. We stayed in the apartment Galleria for a week and it was a beautiful experience. During our stay we booked a wine tasting and we visited the Uffizi + Accademia. We highly recommend this place.
