Summary: Great location and nice to stay in such an historic hotel. The room was comfortable but lacked some of the modern amenities - although recently renovated. Only warm water at best in the shower. Breakfast was great as was the meal we had in the 1864 Restaurant. We would definitely stay there again as the overall experience outweighed the few negatives.

Summary: Lovely hotel in a great location. Beautiful room. Fantastic food at the dinner buffe. However, there are much room for improvement. The outdoor areas are way overlooked and need a big renovation to put this hotel back to it's glory days. The food in the other restaurants were not very good. I also think this hotel needs a Concept planner, to make sure they cater for it's customers. To play loud music dunk,dunk at the pool bar does not sit well with a customer base 60+ - and actually really disturbing when you just want to relax and listen to the waves. Don't ask the Travel Agent in the reception to order a taxi for you, as you only get a driver who charge for a full day tour even though we said no! Had to pay full price anyway for a short trip...The hotel does not stock your mini bar if you don't put in a full order of what you want before hand?? Reason: oh, we are not doing this since after covid based on hygiene?? OMG, this happened 6 years ago and is history in the rest of the world. Step up if you want to be a 5 star hotel. Also really annoyed that our room faced the large outdoor area next to the hotel where they had a huge concert screen showing the cricket and playing really loud music until 23.00 in the night. Please stay away from rooms at this end.

Summary: Friendly staff, but first room had bad smell and second we got was arun down. Not the standard we expected. Pool is extremely nice and would be our reason if we were to come back.

Summary: The room was clean and comfortable but there was some disturbance from wedding festivities in the central garden The attitude of the staff is mixed, reception were very helpful but in the patio bar rather indifferent- there is a danger of complacency as this is the grand historic hotel that is booked because of what it is. rather than fighting to maintain standards competing with the newer large group hotels nearby

Summary: Great old colonial era hotel, all the staff are really good, super view from the room and all spotlessly clean. Dining in The Veranda restaurant offers a great choice for both breakfast and dinner.

Summary: Staff very attentive and friendly. Customer service excellent. Lovely restaurant for buffet dining with seating opening onto veranda and unobstructed Seaview. Excellent choice of food but often only like warm rather than hot. I don’t think they have the correct type of infra red heating lamps to keep the food hot.

Summary: We had a deluxe sea view room and it was really nice. For a longer stay, there was limited space to unpack and store clothes but the room was good. The reception staff were very good but the service in the bars and restaurants was poor. You could wait a half hour to even order a drink and wait another half hour for it to be served. We noticed this not just with us, but many others complaining of the poor service. I would still stay here for location, ambiance and history, but would likely do more meals offsite next time.bbarsextreelywaspoor.good.Thereception staff were wonderful.
