Positive: Lovely cottage in a beautiful setting, perfect for many top Lakeland walls. The kitchen was especially well stocked. Cosy and clean. Fabulous stay.

Positive: We had a great time at gables end cottage. Superb location right in the middle of Braithwaite village. A quaint village shop only 15 yards away & three pubs within walking distance. The bus stop is at the end of the road, with a punctual & frequent bus into Keswick. The cottage was extremely clean & comfortable. There is a gas fire and smart TV in the living room, and we were able to log into our own Netflix account. There is a separate entrance at the back of the house with a cloakroom area, where we were able to hang our wet coats and take off dirty boots without dirtying the kitchen floor.

Negative: We had an issue finding the parking upon arrival. Though the directions in the email were fairly clear the parking space is not well signposted, and we were unsure whether we were blocking somebody else’s driveway (parking is up a grassy bank, in front of a gate with a “private” sign just down the road from the cottage.) it took us about 20 minutes to work out we’re we were supposed to park. It would be helpful if there was a sign on the gate indicating that this was were the gables end visitors should park. Also, the lock on the bathroom door is quite stiff, so on a few occasions I was afraid of being trapped inside the bathroom because I couldn’t unlock the door. We also couldn’t work out how to turn up the temperature of the bath taps, but the shower was hot and powerful. There were heated towel racks in the bathroom which was great. Overall we had a great time in this cottage (once we worked out where to park) and have already planned to book for the summer.
