Positive: The room was perfect

Negative: The kitchen was too old like it was in an abandoned place..it was really sad to cook there. Water wasn't drinkable and they had labels to boil the water. It was really late to go buy so we had to drink hot water and it had a weird taste

Positive: The hotel rooms with bathrooms were clean, comfortable and updated. Good value for money. I would recommend for budget friendly accommodation right in Fox Glacier. Close to amenities.

Negative: There is a common kitchen which is fine considering the budget. Was very functional and comfortable. Yes there is a need for the whole Fox Glacier township to boil water before use - that notice is not just for this accommodation! It's for the whole township.

Positive: Facilities in the room were very clean, although a damp smell throughout. Great location in Fox Glacier.

Negative: Very cheap mattress. Kept waking up in pain with the springs poking into us.

Positive: Room was comfortable, clean and quiet. Previous reviews had tempered our expectations so we weren't actually disappointed.

Negative: The place has zero street appeal and looks abandoned. Never saw any staff. Fox Glacier township itself is rundown whereas Franz Josef is modern and thriving.

Negative: Looks very run down from outside with messy, weed infested garden and surrounds. Needs a good clean up and paint job.

Positive: The bed was comfortable and our room was clean staff friendly.

Negative: This place is very old and run down, the grounds were a mess and the building needs painting. The curtains, although blackout ones were very thin like a shower curtain, one was pined to the window frame. Their was no wifi in the rooms. The 2 staff had been there only a week and arranged all the rooms they were trying to communicatewith the owner about the problems. We had a bedroom with ensuite .

Negative: It is massively overpriced, crazily so - if it sold itself as a "hostel", gave you reasonable expectations of its (lack of) charm and quality, and was budget priced then it would be fine - but you pay for top end and get something absolute bottom rung
