Positive: Beautifully renovated huge period apartment - feels like living large. Tastefully decorated with lots of extras (gifts on arrival, plenty of fluffy white towels for our family of four, slippers to use, basically anything you may have forgotten). The location is absolutely unbeatable. Only those in the front bedroom may be disturbed by the night bus traffic, however the double windows help with this - maybe more of an issue in summer? The bathrooms are cleverly renovated and modern, with a wonderful rain shower in the one and mood lighting. Location location location - again except for the parking situation (not for people who want to park in front of the door) absolutely ideal for exploring the beautiful city of Lübeck.

Negative: Guests should be aware that the water is heated with a modern quick water heater - and if someone uses water elsewhere (in the apartment or maybe house?) you can very quickly have a cold shower and then get scalded. This is a quirk of staying in a modernized 'altbau'. The floors are also sloping like on a ship, and creak a lot, but you quickly get used to that. We didn't like the kitchen layout much for cooking, but that is personal taste - it was impossible to work there as more than one. The kitchen however was one of the best equipped ones I've stayed in in a long time. I only missed a whisk and maybe a paring knife. But most people probably go out anyway with all the possibilities right outside the door...
