Positive: If you like hill walks then the location is fabulous. Spotless clean, everything works. Real fire lovely, even in summer. Pub with good food very close by, bit of an uphill walk back to cottage. Centre of village 10 minute walk for shops, pubs and lake (for boat to other tourist locations).

Negative: Not a criticism - only thing that would help (distance travellers) would be Saturday to Saturday rental to avoid traffic, but most rentals seem to be Fridays.

Summary: Superb cottage for Lake district and especially Helvellyn

Positive: Returning to my childhood holiday cottage is always a pleasure..... The cottage is well maintained and everything you need, (apart from oven gloves, I do lots of cooking). Well situated with walks from the door. A big thank you to the owners.

Positive: I loved that I was able to stay in the cottage that I stayed in from being a baby every year for 25yrs for our family holidays.... Until I moved to southern Ireland.... It was great to see the old place again. (updated of course to a great standard). I hope to stay here more frequently if I can in the quiet season.... It was sooo good to relive childhood memories visiting glenriding and the shop owners/Travellers pub landlord.... (refused to serve me a shandy when I was 15...😂) that are still there nearly 50yrs later.... Also, it was great to still be able to run up to red tarn and go for a cool down in one of the pools on the way down (yes, my knees are still holding out after 51yrs....just..😂) All in all... Fantastic... Wish I could speak to the owners, would love to meet them... Maybe when they are ready to sell up, it could tempt me back to England for my retirement...?? Thanks again, Paul... Will this message get back to the owners as I wish to congratulate them for keeping the old cottage in a great condition?

Negative: Its not a dislike, more of a suggestion. When we stayed as kids, the woodshed was always full of logs coal and kindling..... I would personally rely on the fantastic stove there to heat the house rather than the expensive electric boiler. Felt guilty putting it on.... Turn it off quite a bit when it automatically came on....
