Positive: We spent a wonderful weekend at Fantasy Island. The room we had was perfect with a lovely outlook to the gorgeous tropical gardens and see beyond. The host was very welcoming, friendly informative and gracious. I would highly recommend for those looking for lovely good value-for-money accommodation near Tryphena.

Positive: Good location, beautiful gardens and our host was great, very welcoming, showed us around the property and gave us some local tips. We had a lot of rain during our visit and the DVDs in the cabin kept us entertained.

Negative: The shower head was not working properly. It had a leak that made lose most of the pressure.

Positive: We had a fabulous 4 night stay in the main cottage. It felt totally private, had good facilities if you wanted to self-cater and the most amazing view of the ocean - absolutely breath taking. There were native birds galore and the most magnificent tropical gardens to explore. Peter, the co-owner and garden maestro, met us on our arrival with a glass of champagne and a garden tour. He made us feel very welcome and gave lots of useful local advice. The property is only a 15 minute stroll down to the main shop and cafe of Tryphena. Plus the Currach Irish pub and the Social club are in the same vicinity - no need to drive if you'd like a drink with your meal.

Negative: The hill upto the property is pretty steep but we very soon got used to it. It was worth it for the views!

Summary: A very special place to celebrate a special birthday! Highly recommended.

Positive: Such a great place from which to explore Great Barrier Island. We were here 3 nights, excellent reception and welcome drink from Pete and a tour of the facilities. Cabin was perfect for our needs, with simple but effective cooking facilities, WiFi (which we didn’t expect), clean and tidy property but in surroundings that have to be seen. The plot has been manicured to a tee with a super layout and magnificent bay views. Walking distance to the Irish pub and store. If you are self drive then make sure it’s an all-terrain vehicle as the drive is steep!! Couldn’t ask for more.

Negative: Nothing, perfect! I don’t say that very often.

Summary: A fabulous stay in an unbelievable island. We will be back for sure and when we do it will be to the same place. Felt

Positive: Beautiful gardens and views great location. Very relaxing. Greeted by the host with a glass of champagne each and a quick tour around the garden and facilities. Very private peaceful and quiet. Each unit has its own private garden and sea view. Rooms very attractive. Hired electric motorbikes and drove from airport in 20 mins with bags strapped on back and accomadation is 5 mins from restaurants, social club, supperette and beautiful beach. Absolutely loved our stay 😁👍
