Positive: I liked the way of managing the house and the weather at the place.

Negative: There is no washing machine. In addition: 1. There was no water for drinking. I asked the owner and then he brought some bottles of drinking water. 2. There was no iron at the location however when I asked the owner then he said he will provide. 3. The water pressure for taking bath is very low. It should be improved. 4. Just for other travelers please note that the property is located at the bottom of the cliff so be aware that you need L4 option to go up. Overall, property is good to stay.

Positive: It was a fantastic traditional Omani home, with really beautiful touches in regard to the ornaments and traditional things around the house.

Negative: It needs a table on the balcony. And be very careful when entering and exiting the kitchen, due to the very low door!! Also, the last bit of road to the home is very steep.

Positive: One of the most unique places we’ve stayed at. We realized how much love the property owner has put in the house. Everything has been thought through. Old to new. View is amazing. And if there is anything, owner is so willing to solve it. He welcomed us with the Omani dates from the region and local fruits. That’s really unique. The hospitality! You need a 4x4 drive to reach the mountain and the place (required by government). So something to take care of before booking. If you’re going for a trek in the mountains, this is an amazing place to stay.

Positive: A unique accommodation showcasing the traditional way of life in Jabel Akhdar. The interior is thoughtfully preserved and restored, additionally furnished with many old items like a museum. Reasonably clean and well maintained. Well equipped kitchenette. The open air terrace offers nice mountain view, although the angle isn’t as optimal as the fancy clifftop resorts. The location is convenient as long as coming in a car, close to nearby village with amenities. Bedrooms are equipped with AC w/ heater to keep warm at night. It took us a bit of research to figure out trekking routes nearby (it’s actually right at one end of W18b). Would be good if the host can compile some simple guides for activities.

Negative: No WiFi (though cellular reception is good), hair dryer or washing machine available. There are quirks with the plumbing (water pump) which needs some tricks — had to turn on water tap to kickstart the pump before there’s hot water for the shower. Understandable and not bothersome once we figured out.
