Can Chouline is a large family villa, set in private grounds, with an infinity pool. The villa nestles in the woodland and prairies that surround the lovely market town of Ceret and commands some breathtaking views.
The villa is approached from a quiet country lane and the grounds are entered through large gates, that open onto the private, secure grounds of the property. The villa itself comprises: Open plan living room with plentiful seating and air conditioning, a dining area which leads to both the fully equipped kitchen and onto a sun terrace. There is one bedroom on the ground floor with access to a shower room; on the first floor, there are a further 3 bedrooms (two with double beds and one dormitory with five beds), another family bathroom and separate wc.
In the basement there is an extra appartment with a bedroom (double bed), a shower, a separate toilet and a sitting room. (This can be rented apart from the main house, but not on itself)
To the outside of the property, there is a large terraced area that leads to the infinity pool and large summer kitchen, so that you can dine alfresco in the sun or in the shade. From the pool area, you can take full advantage of the grounds which are laid partly to lawn and partly wooded. There are a private tennis court, swings and a trampoline in the garden.
This is an idyllic spot, set in one of the most saught after locations in the Languedoc. 7 minutes by car into Ceret, 25 minutes from the coast, 15 minutes from Spain and just a few footfalls into the foothills of the Pyrenees.

Summary: This is a great house for a large group. We returned after 8 years to find a tennis court and extended outdoor space. We made full use of the outdoor kitchen, pizza oven, gas barbecue, pool etc. Ilonka was very helpful with recommendations. We enjoyed mountain walks, lunch at le chalet de l’Albere with a super view of the mountains and kayaking at les Paulilles as well as old favourites- the lake at St Jean pla de Corts and pizza in 9 jets square in Ceret where the modern art gallery has had an extension and is better than ever.

Summary: This is a great family house in a region which offers a wide range of activities, culture and scenery. We were two families ranging in age from 12 upwards and the outdoor kitchen and pool area were perfect for everyone to swim, relax and eat late into the evening. The nearby lake was popular with the more active with its high ropes in the trees, inflatables and zip wires. We loved Ceret and spent a lot of time at the restaurants/bars, watching the sardanes dancing, visiting the markets and the excellent modern art gallery. Further afield les Orgues rock formations, Port Ligat (Dali's house), Girona, Monasterio de Sant Pere de Rodes and Figueras (Dali museum) were popular with everyone. Walking in Les Alberes gave us some amazing views of this region. lonka and Aurelie were both very easy to deal with and dealt with any problems that did arise very quickly.
