Gite in Saint-Thomas de Conac, near Jonzac, Poitou Charente, Charentes Maritime, close to A10 and fabulous beaches and towns such as Bordeaux, Cognac, and La Rochelle. Le Petit Chez Vieuille is part of our beautiful Maison de Maître which is over 200 years old. It has been beautifully refurbished in the style and feel of French living. Only ten minutes from the A10 Motorway and other major routes but also close to idyllic country roads. Within easy reach of the famous stunning beaches of Royan and St George de Didonne as well as the famous Côte de Sauvage and Côte de Beauté. The wonderful and interesting towns of Cognac, Saintes, La Rochelle and St Emillion are all close-by. You can find excellent restaurants in the region. This is also a major wine region and a 20 minute ferry ride from Royan takes you down the west side of the Gironde through the Medoc, where you will find many world-famous producers of wines. Enjoy the wonderful accommodation or relax by the pool. Walk through the sunflower fields, visit the beaches or wander round the charming and beautiful streets of many historic towns taking in the ambience of long lunches and dinners in many fine restaurants. This is a single Gite, with pool shared with owners. Non-smokers only. The gite should be left in the same clean condition at the end of the stay as found on arrival. If not, a cleaning fee of €75 will be deducted from the security deposit. All linen as well as pool towels are included.

Summary: A wonderful Gite decorated to a high standard & furnished with everything you could possibly need. Sean & Irena are great hosts who couldn’t be more welcoming or helpful during our stay - could have happily spent another week relaxing by the pool!

Summary: What a wonderful gite, beautifully decorated and equipped with everything you could possibly need. Fabulous pool which we enjoy immensely. A very peaceful setting with cracking views of the valley from the pool. Sean and Irena were very friendly and a font of knowledge of the local area. There was lots of do in the local area- we could have happily spent another week exploring! We thoroughly enjoyed our two week stay and highly recommend this gite.

Summary: We loved our stay in the gite from Sean and Irena. First impression is always important. They are so kind and well organised! They showed us our lovely site and explained everything. The house is beautiful and very nice to stay, it has everything you could wish. I love the area since you can do a lot of things. We stayed in the apartment for one week and our kids loved the swimming pool. I would recommend this site to all. Best, Wouter, Barbara and the kids

Summary: I worry there is not enough space for me to recommend why this beautiful Gite in its idyllic surroundings is just so perfect in every way possible. Irena & Sean are the perfect hosts & were attentive to anything we could of needed & more. Upon arrival they greeted us with wine, bread, homemade jam, milk & butter. The Gite itself was perfect for my family of 4, 2 adults & 2 children (12&9 years). The open plan kitchen/living space was great for us & the bedrooms were spacious, bed linens were beautiful & of high quality. The bathroom was spacious & a great shower. Towels were provided for the bathroom & pool, both of excellent quality. We had all we could need & more. The outside space was outstanding, the pool & poolside loungers we enjoyed so much & one of the best we have ever experienced. The ping pong table was a fantastic surprise & we enjoyed immensely. Sean & Irena were happy to share their knowledge & experiences of the local area & attractions. Chateau Haurt Grelot is definitely worth a visit for wine lovers! I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend staying here & will hopefully be able to return again. I would rate the Gite 5 star accommodation. The local town has a super little supermarket, bakery (wonderful cakes & fresh bread), butchers & super pizza takeaway! For those visiting with family I would recommend Royan beach & town, the beach is stunning & the water shallow for a long way out. The town is a traditional seaside town with lots of fine eateries to suit both adults & children, the shops & amusement area are fun for the children. Blaye is a beautiful town with a ferry to the other side of the estuary with lots of small towns & stunning chateau’s & is worth a visit. We didn’t get a chance to visit the citadela in Blaye, which was a real shame, maybe next time! The zoo in La Palmyre was a super day out & I definitely recommend visiting, if only to feed the giraffes popcorn! Bordeaux is a stunning place to visit, the architecture is outstanding, lots of bars, cafes & shops with lots of families around. Thank you Irena & Sean for sharing your beautiful home with us xx
