Only 31 miles from the San Diego Airport. Tavern Hideout is one mile off of Interstate 8, just East of San Diego in beautiful Alpine California. This 4200 sqft. 5 bed 4 bath hideaway on 1.3 acres is your own PRIVATE RESORT LIKE ESCAPE!!! Not to be confused with an actual resort, where you can be loud and out of control. We are a large home located in a residential neighborhood, where we respect our neighbors and their families by being noise sensitive and considerate. This home is excellent for large families, corporate or religious groups, NOT FOR THE PARTY PEOPLE, please take that elsewhere.
The pool is not heated. Tavern Hideout is on a propane tank, and the pool is too large to heat/keep heated. The large jacuzzi is heated.
Our pricing is tiered based on occupancy which also includes people just dropping by to hang out. Please see house rules for further information.
With many gathering areas around the property. It is also perfect for small intimate getaways to enjoy the peace and quiet away from the city. The kitchen is fully stocked with all the cooking hardware to prepare large meals.

Summary: My group of friends and our children have made it an annual trip for two years now to come out to this Alpine property for a weekend. We have already booked to return in 2024 for a third time! This house is PERFECT for families with a ton of beds so no one is on the floor and a space plan with room for everyone to spread out but also spend time together. Clean, well stocked, quiet, beautiful views, amazing pool, it’s got it all.

Summary: The Tavern Hideout was the best VRBO property I’ve ever rented. Our host was contentious of making our stay the best we’ve ever had and her meticulous noticeable special touches did not disappoint. I was greeted by Cherise and she was so gracious and thorough in showing me all of the amenities of the property! She made sure every piece of outside furniture was walked and wiped down and dust free. It was immaculate. My family and friends enjoyed the pool, slide and jacuzzi plus the view was majestic. If you’re looking for a place to make memories that will last forever, the Tavern Hideout is definitely your place. It is worth EVERY PENNY.

Summary: Everything promised in the property description more than met our expectations. Away from crowds, traffic and outside distractions, we gathered as 5 familes - 3 generations - to celebrate a 50th wedding anniversary. We played board games, enjoyed the game room (pool, video games, live music), checked out the life sized chess board, cooked and ate together using all the provided amenities, and “lived” in the pool non stop until time to marvel at the sunset each evening. The bedrooms matched our family needs perfectly, each decorated cleverly w a different theme. We all enjoyed the cozy shaded gathering places outdoors and the air conditioned gathering spaces indoors. The butterfly garden was an additional delight. Kudos to the superb hosts for this unforgettable place to gather with loved ones.

Summary: What a wonderful way to spend a week with the Family! There were 20 of us including our children, spouses and 9 grandchildren. The house and property was so amazing with a wonderful pool and breathtaking views of the valley with a beautiful sunset each night. Plenty of room to spread out for the “BIGS” and “Littles” yet we all felt so close with the coziness or our big family! John and Cherise were wonderful during the process and very responsive to our needs during the trip!
