Positive: Comfortable beds, great shower/bath, quiet, use of bikes, location right at bus stop and near seashore, host drove us to e-bike rental as a courtesy. Ramen shop and Okonayami restaurant very close by. We arrived early and were able to check in. Location a short bus ride r a 20-minute walk from Honduran port.

Summary: We would say here again if coming back to Naoshima.

Positive: Very cosy and the bike being free to use was an excellent addition.

Negative: Only thing would be a proper clothes dryer, I got soaking wet and tried to use the washing machine dry function but it basically just spins with no heat.

Summary: A fantastic value property close to a few restaurants, the bus stop, and easy access to the art sites and museum.

Positive: This apartment had everything I needed for a three night stay. The kitchen was well equipped and very clean. Tea and coffee were supplied. Microwave, gas stove top, toaster oven and a decent sized fridge were all there. The bed and pillow was the most comfortable I experienced in Japan. I really appreciated the washing machine as well as some clothes washing liquid. The heater worked well and I was cosy in no time. The apartment was very handy to the local bus stop, right outside the door! There were two eateries close by, one specialising in okonomiyaki and the other Italian.

Negative: The apartment was not in a town area, more like a suburb. This meant I had to get the bus to town to buy in a few groceries for breakfast. Advance notice about this would be helpful. The bathroom was fine but older style.

Summary: I loved this little apartment in Naoshima!

Negative: Our host was gruff. Except for the bedroom, the apartment was so cold that I was too cold to shower. The shower spigot leaked onto the floor, and the water wasn't consistently hot. There was only one small wastebasket in the apartment, which the host didn't bother to empty during our two-night stay.

Positive: This is a simple little apartment where everything works. It’s not fancy but really serviceable and in an excellent location for walking everywhere to see all the large museums and the small art houses. A lovely gesture from the owner who organised transport for us to the port when we left.

Negative: Nothing. It is really excellent value.
